There’s this girl named Blair Waldorf who created the perfect fantasy for her love story with a certain Nathaniel Archibald. Everyday she’d always put on some classy clothes and a charming smile as she entertained people who would ask about her future with the said man, giving them the juiciest details. She would tell them stories of how she feels like walking in the clouds whenever he takes her in his arms; a romance you can surely find in any fairy tale book. For the longest time she believed her life with Prince Archibald was a dream come true and there was a fierce determination to ignore anything that says otherwise. But there’s a thing called real life and Ms. Waldorf is not a fan of it because in that particular world, her perfect boyfriend is in love with her perfect best friend, the gorgeous Serena Van der Woodsen. Next to the other girl, she was the wallflower with a green-eyed monster waiting to pounce. When Nate confessed he slept with Serena, it destroyed her. Seeking retaliation, she decided to take revenge on her best friend rather than admit that the love of her life was not as perfect as she thought he would be. She knew how ridiculous she must look; forcing herself onto a man who never wanted her in the first place, but she didn’t yield and kept going. In the end, her heart could take no more and he told Nate that she doesn’t need him like she used to. Her fantasy crumbled before her eyes and Blair could only look for means of escape.

While this tragedy is taking place and as Blair tries to fix things with Serena, she finds herself ensnarled by resident philander Chuck Bass who uses women as he pleases and discards them by whim. He’s the type who takes one look at a rose and ignores the thorns because all he wants to do is crush the delicate flower. He was Nate’s best friend, and Blair finds his company acceptable in small dosages (or whenever she’s planning on a diabolical scheme and he is ready to lend a hand). They seem to share a kind of self-loathing narcissism as they take pleasure in other people’s pain. In the most ironic fashion, this binds them together as individuals and since both are conceited, they never cared to define their relationship (or whatever feelings they might have for each other). One night they suffered a lapse of judgment and gave into a moment of weakness. And it began to change them.

It was said that Blair knew the first time when she saw Nate Archibald that he is the one she’s going to marry. From there she started to create an illusion to support this stubborn aim of hers and it was only when she was with Chuck that she realizes that she doesn’t really have to pretend to be this perfect girl with her perfect prince; she could just be Blair: unapologetic, beautiful and brave. Moreover, Chuck Bass did more than adore her; he actually worshipped everything about her, even going as far as playing with her mind games even if it kills him inside. He knows the right words to say that will boil Blair’s cool surface. He knew things about her before she even figured them out herself, or as so she puts it, he knows Blair ‘to my core’. And yet it wasn’t always right. There are countless times throughout the two seasons when the emotions turn dark and cruel between them; back and forth they relentlessly tried to possess the other without consideration. Without the game, both weren’t sure if they could last because it is indeed only a matter of time before they mess it all up.

In my years of watching television couples from different kinds of drama shows, I have never been so invited by what Chuck and Blair have. I honestly know that they do love each other but this love comes with baggage and insecurities. In that memorable episode where Dark on fire was playing, Chuck could only assure her that perhaps in the future they could make things work and as he lets go of her hand, Blair sheds just one tear; the lovers finally admit that their issues as individuals should be resolved first because these will only keep getting in the way of committing to a long-term relationship.

It was a promise that we CB shippers would hate to see rot. Considering the dynamics of the episodes after that, I admit that I’m fascinated with Chuck and Vanessa’s possibility of a romantic angle. If that is the case, it’s all right if it will run its course. Chuck needs to be with a girl who is compassionate and can see the good in him and Blair has yet to give that because she has her own self-image problems to worry about. Vanessa might bring out great qualities in Chuck and might also prepare him to open all the way in and fix his bad habits with Blair if he really wants to be with her. Blair, meanwhile, should tone down her feminine wiles and deceit; we all love the Queen B’s flair and attitude but this could detriment her hopes for a relationship that will nurture her for the best. You can add that adage that people who are meant to be will find their way back to each other; but remember that the journey is exhausting and not always a straight path.

In the absence of absolute certainty, that crude proof that things are the way they’re supposed to be when you’re in love, one loses sight of what’s worth fighting for. Some do not take a risk since it’s so much easier to adhere to cynicism than faith. There are many events in Chuck and Blair’s lives that kept them together and tore them apart as well and they should learn to differentiate what’s more important and what’s not. Take for example Rufus and Lily; they were young and in love and the combustion in that age is hard to grasp. It took years to reach some kind of compromise; an assurance that even though things will never be always in their advantage, there’s a silent prayer in their hearts that what they felt for each other all those years can never be dulled or stolen. And I believe that the same way goes with Chuck and Blair, Blair and Chuck.

Perhaps it’s best for them to grow apart for a while. Perhaps they could stay in touch but still take a break once in a while when things go too hot-cold like the way it seems to be whenever they’re around each other. They need to evolve as people and evolution grants you a new perspective and let’s hope Chuck and Blair will meet halfway. Without pain there is no gain after all, and the excruciating pleasure of waiting has its benefits. What Chuck and Blair have wasn’t always right but doesn’t have to be wrong either.

There are some things in life that are just not worth rushing…

...especially something that you wish would last forever.

On that cheerful note, as daylight fades up and make-up runs, just hold on, CB shippers! <3

01. GAMES

I mean, obviously. Chuck/Blair has been a near-constant battle. Games were part of the foundation of their relationship ("You and I bonded over a mutual love of scheming"), games were part of their undoing. Season 2 is inundated with dialogue about games and stakes, winning and losing. Games + Chuck and Blair's king and queen pretensions = every chess and war cliche reference in the history of ever.

Also obviously, games aren't the point. S2's sabotage, schemes, wagers, and ~seductions are just a way for Chuck and Blair to channel their feelings for each other into a safer type of...

If there is one thing we know about the GG Writers, it’s that they get off on causing pain for Chuck. When they need a plot device in order to move forward a storyline, throwing Chuck under the bus is their go-to move. What’s that you say? Chuck is happy? Let’s bring his mom back for the sole purpose of ruining his relationship with Blair. Oh? You need to prop Dan and Blair’s budding romance? Let’s put Chuck in a coma. Having observed and been thoroughly fascinated by Chuck for over four and a half seasons, we are amazed by all he has overcome despite the amount of shit that...

This is my first fan fiction so please don't be harsh. Blair and Chuck have been dating in secret for one month, she's still with Lord Marcus, will she tell the Lord that the man she is really in love with isn't him?

Blair knew what she had to do. Chuck had convinced her of this, all he wanted to do was be able to spoil her in public, but he couldn't as she was already taken, by a Lord, how could he live up to that?

Blair knew she loved Chuck but she didn't want to hurt Marcus, but her heart rested with Chuck, ever since he gave her the Erikkson Beamen necklace that he presented to her on her...
