maybe it's a bit predictable but.. HARRY POTTER! it's the best! especially for this age! gives lessons of life!

Ronia the Robber's Daughter - Astrid Lindgren. It's a great book for this age... I think I was 13 when I read it. Hope you like the book! :)
The Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis is a good choice if you like fantasy.
