Books to Read Question

Does anyone know of any fantasy/medieval setting novels?

I'm looking for books that are set in a medieval / fantasy type time period or world. I loved J.R.R. Tolkien's Hobbit/Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and I am currently reading (and loving) George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones books (A Song of Ice and Fire series). I have found I really enjoy these types of books, but I haven't been able to find many that aren't "too out there" with the fantasy stuff. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Thanks for the help! :)

Have you read the Silmarillion? It's also by Tolkien and is about level with Game of Thrones in difficultly to read and plot intricacy.

I would really recommend the Pellinor series by Alison Croggon. There are four books in the series - The Gift (or The Naming in America), The Riddle, The Crow and The Singing - and they are set in the medieval fantasy time period. They are really well written and have a really complex back story of mythology and poetry that you'll love if you loved the Lord of the Rings.
The main character is a sixteen year old slave called Maerad and the majority of the series is written from her perspective.

I have a hard time finding any medieval/fantasy type books too. Based off of the books you have listed, I believe you might like Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. It falls into both the medieval and fantasy category. The sequel, Rebel Springs will come out on December 3 of 2013. I think you'd like it, I definitely do, and can't wait for the next one.
