What is usually makes you enjoy a book more?

Same, and more specifically I want a character whose emotions and thoughts aren't superficial and obvious. Gimme some depth and complexity 'cause honestly plots are second to characters.

I like the characters to be unique yet familiar, heroic yet practical, dream-like yet real......... and they should express their feelings and emotions too because that's why I like books better than movies........because in books you get to know what the characters are thinking and feeling........... also the storyline and overall content matters........and I don't like incomplete stories.....
