Okay, I didn't do this, I found it in Fanforum, and I love it! It's about 3x18, episode that I think is underrated, and analyzes the BL scenes of course <33
I think you're gonna love it!!
ok, sorry it took so long, my internet wasn't working & then ff wasn't working. Ok, the ep I've chosen as my fave BL episode, I wasn't sure about simply bc it's an episode where BL don't even have a storyline, in fact the whole episode itself is pretty filler, there's no important storyline. It's 3.18
What I love about this episode is how you just get to see Brooke & Lucas being a couple, they're officially a couple, there's no drama within their relationship, but everyone is still dealing with the school shooting & you see Brooke & Lucas moving on together.
At the beginning, he's worried about Karen & I love what Brooke says to him; we’re all going to get our hope back, Luke. It’s just going to take some of us longer than others.
Later on in their room, she makes him smile, the same smile that she missed. We find out that even after the school shooting & everything, he's still writing her letters.
At the club, they continue to have fun together & it's just the little moments throughout the ep that get to me, the way she slides her hand over his & the way they look at each other.
It then turns quieter, Lucas is thinking about Keith, Brooke is there for him.
Lucas: It’s weird, but sometimes I have these moments where I feel like Keith is with me.
Brooke: He is.
& again, the body language in this is so tender, I love the way she has her arm over his chest & he has his hand over his, he's holding on to her as she holding on to him.
Then comes the stuff with Haley's ring - probably the only actual storyline in the episode - Lucas shows her the ring bc he knows she loves wedding & would find it romantic, Nathan asks him why he would even show Brooke the ring later on, & I think Lucas was confiding in her, yes Nathan told him something that should probably be a sexret, but in Lucas's mind Brooke should be in on it too. Also, I'm pretty sure she's wearing his sweatshirt - I don't think we ever see him in it, but I'm pretty sure it's not Brooke's, so I assume it's Lucas's sweatshirt - reminds me of season 1 when she would wear his hoodie.
When Nathan walks out during the I never game & Lucas goes after him they talk about Keith & Lucas says something that I think is quite important.
Lucas: I’m appreciating everything we’ve got now.
This kind of continues on from the last episode when Lucas was taking back his predictions thinking none of them would come true, then Haley shows him the one about Brooke and ran after her. Yes, he's lost Keith & it's awful, but he has Brooke & he doesn't want to lose her too. Lucas & Nathan also look in the window at Brooke & Haley, & it's a nice BLNH moment.
When they are sitting in the chair, I find it amusing that they are having a couple-y conversation, completely ignoring Nathan who's sitting opposite them but I also think what is said is to mirror their scene in 3.17 when Lucas says it's good to be there, especially with Brooke.
Lucas: You still glad you came?
Brooke: Of course, I’m with you.
Then comes the scene by the fire, he tells her stories about his past, it probably seems like an unimportant scene, but to Brooke & their relationship as a whole, I think it means a lot. He's letting her in. He's telling her about Keith & then talks about how he's worried about Karen, he's letting her in. Also throughout the scene, they are very affectionate with their hands, she rubs his scar & he holds her hand, it's small, but I think it's intimate.
He watches Brooke with Pete, Peyton notes how he seems happy.
At the end as they are leaving, Lucas picks some flowers and gives them to her. I find this really sweet bc it's spontaneous & it shows that she's on his mind, that he likes to do things that make her happy, despite everything going on with his family, Brooke & his relationship with her is very much a priority of his. He kisses her hair - something we actually see from 3 different angles if you watch as closely as I do & then they are cute as they get in the backseat as well as she is cuddled up to him.
"John Steinbeck once wrote: 'Change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers hidden in the grass."
I wondered at the time if this was foreshadowing something for BL, simply bc the camera panned over to the flowers that Lucas had given Brooke - if Brooke had been pregnant in season 4, this would of been a great thing for shippers to go back & realise that Brooke got pregnant on that trip & that was the change that was talked about, but I guess the writers aren't that clever Looking back, I think the change is just everyone starting to be happy again & letting go of the pain etc.
The only thing that would make this episode better for BL, would be if we got that sex scene that was cut.....but oh well. I didn't realise for a while that even though it's my fave episode for BL, they don't even kiss in it, but here's some cuteness anyway.
