Brucas Article: Keep the Faith—Why I 2nd that Motion!

I’ll admit seeing the premiere, Lucas choosing Peyton, and the thought of them actually becoming man and wife disappointed me. It did not however make me lose faith in my beloved Brucas. While it may toughen the road ahead of them I can’t picture them together under any other circumstances. In fact, yes, I’ll go ahead and say it…a part of me is glad, relieved almost, that Lucas chose Peyton. Why, because after watching the episode it only reaffirmed the complexity of OTH and Lucas’s confused love life, and how he foolishly attempts to find reason out of life and love that just don’t exist!
Now, on to the more important of matters. Why this episode makes me keep the faith! First of all, point blank if Lucas would have chosen Brooke it wouldn’t have felt right. Lucas has never had to “choose” to love Brooke, it just happened. He felt it. She felt it. They still feel it! Kind of like the love he spoke about in season five, that doesn’t need words. That’s the love that Brucas share. Not the pick up in the middle of the night, ask the women you just days ago clearly stated that you hated for ruining your life to elope with you in Vegas! That my friends had Leyton written ALL over it, IMO. But they didn’t get married! Thank god! Maybe it was bc it was selfish and “not right”; I mean heck how many times is it really right to get married on a whim? Maybe once in a blue moon, and thanks to our pals Naley, that once is TAKEN! But either way…HE had second thoughts!
So…what did I find riveting and promising in the episode? The little things. The things that made me think about why I love Brucas so much. The reality behind it all, their beautiful story…that HASN’T ended. The one that I see foreshadowed throughout all of the 5th, and YES, even in this one snippet of season 6.
So, furthermore, my greatest glory in this entire episode was hearing Gus (I think that was his name anyway, the card trick dealer/airport love guru) said to Lucas. It was a pivotal aspect of the episode, and to me it solidified why Leyton is not endgame. While Leyton fans see him as a cheerleader, saying “I think you made a good choice…because she came” hinting at Peyton being the one for Lucas, I paid special attention to the words he said about love…he said the MOST IMPORTANT thing he was going to tell Lucas was: “that you can’t CHOOSE who you love…that its more about fate, and DESTINY…what’s in the stars (hence the destiny shot) and that it just happens, and something about how women are smarter than men think they are. He also says something eerily similar to something a brilliant carriage driver once revealed to a couple he obviously felt shared a great love for each other (Remember: that’s what it’s all about…finding some one to truly love who truly loves you back) Yep that couple was indeed Brucas! Coincidences…I think not. So, while LPers are dancing their little hats off, I’ll tip my hat to them, and thank them. IMO, they’ve taken one for the Brucas team..and our grand finale. Yes…I’m Keeping the Faith…I’ll second that motion…anyone else care to join?

eka-chan You know, RealLuvAlwaysBL, just when you think you have lowered the status of 'degradation,' 'repulsion,' 'delusion,' leyton just manages to sink their way lower. 6.01 was probably the most...inexplicable circumstance Mark has ever written. Watching it was almost too painful. Now I made a promise to B4C to chew on glass if I ever get to see more LP-incestuous-make-outs but reading this article allowed me to save my gums and teeth because you were right about the carriage driver and the card dealer. I mean, Mark wouldn't have wasted time giving those actors some script for no reason, right? And did anybody who watched that episode and managed not to hit something or puke on a pillow? Because dear god, it took me all my bloody guts not to do so. And what on mother nature's green ass are "You're a mess, Lucas Scott but you're my mess?" "I wanna be selfish with you?" "If I say that its more than i wished for, will you call me a dork? cos it is?" all about? Freaking disgusting. Seriously going to wash my eyes with detergent because they have been corrupted. The whole "I said I hate you but here we are going to get married and oh wait, not really" package of Leyton is blatantly, full-on wreckage. Dismiss LP! I have never felt so strongly about this: DISMISS THEM NOW!! I get the Leyton angle far better when Peyton got shot on the leg and had a psycho stalker. Bejesus for once let that woman stop dangling around Lucas and Lucas also has to stop picking up her dirty laundry. Must he always clean after her? Must he always get her on her feet? Perhaps he should just sign a contract saying, "I, Lucas Eugene Scott, do solemnly swear to fill the knight-in-shining-armor role for Peyton Elizabeth Sawyer." Hot damn, curses! Is--is this supposed to be True Love Always?? Oh, okay, is that what this venereal disease is being called now because if prolong nausea and temporary psychotic breakdown are symptoms then I got it. It would be better to put some posies now in my pockets because Lucas and Peyton, Lucas and Peyton, Lucas and Peyton TLA...contagious. Goddammit, fuck! (This ends my rant. Was effective due to the agony of 6.01. Apologies for my profanity. I. just. can't. take. it. anymore. must. eradicate. leyton. now. NOW.) **I did get the chills with Carrie torturing Dan and Brooke getting mugged...Mark does know how to keep it stirring...but to be honest I'd rather see those two scenes than LP cheese. For real.

Broody_4_Cheery oh cherise i am so feeling what you are feeling. the leyton together thing does not worry me, the whole way it was done just reminds me why i do not ship this couple, the irony (if that is the correct word to use) of the fact it has lucas choosing a girl when the guy blatently says you cant choose love is just well amazing, surely now the mind wonders to the fact maybe lucas chose the wrong girl because he cant choose, its not a choice. and that dream sequence, notice brooke is the only one he says i love you to, im still going with they had roses and roses are the flower of love, the fact his first one was of brooke and the fact he picked a card just after seeing brooke, could be coincidence, but im keeping the faith that there is more to it, signs, destiny, whatever you will. really the fact that brooke was even a possibilty is a big thing, he hasnt dated this girl in over five years but the thought crossed his mind that he could marry her when they have not been romatically linked for a long time and are just great friends *cough*yeahright*cough* it has to mean something, the fact she was a choice at all to lucas should give us hope, because the seed is planted my friends, the seed is planted. the leyton in the episode does not worry me, i agree that they are something we have to overcome first, something that the show needs to do, the characters need to overcome, before brucas can truly find their way back together, we have to keep the faith 'believe in the possibilty even when life has given us every reaosn not to believe' (thats my new brucas motto) and if we keep believing maybe our faith will be rewarded.

RealLuvAlwaysBL Eka, damn girl, you make me laugh. I feel your pain! But I am glad I could save those gums of yours! I agree Leyton has gone far beyond the bearable point. Its sickening, I did in fact near vomit in my mouth through almost all their scenes. lol My friends thought I was crazy bc I was so intent on dismissing Leyton, even when they were ooo and ahh ing at that cookie dough fight type lame ass crap they pulled. At this point I'm just so disappointed in Mark for making these characters so desperate looking. They need serious redemtion. B4C, I would also like to say for the record that, YES this episode was IRONIC! And I loved that. Also...didn't realize that in the dream sequences BL were the only to share I Love You's amazing. One of these days I'm going to start from the beginning on season 5 and look at all the angles. Mark did just say that after the 4 year jump it was essentially a different show. I think that Leyton needs to stay in the High School Years for GOOD!

And bury them with all the cookie dough they can shove their asses with...like a cursed time capsule never to be unleashed (I mean look at the last time, god bless Jimmy Edwards and Keith.) Hope Carrie dies in season 6. I hold my ground on this.

RealLuvAlwaysBL Agreed. Some points to add to the marvels of 6.01 perspective that I found on the CW Lounge. In regards to Lucas's pick: "Okay, so. Lucas picks the Queen of Hearts and we are to assume that it is Peyton right? Well here are some things I've noticed: -I found it strange that the card, Queen of Hearts was left on the airport chair, all bent, when Peyton and Lucas left together. I take this as symbolism that Peyton could not be the Queen of Hearts because the card is no longer with them. If she were, wouldn't the Queen of Hearts stay with them? (I had previously mistaken the card as being with them in the hotel room, for this I apologize. I just remembered the card falling away from them and being bent.) -This is sorta a spoiler from OTHBlog, but something Gus told Lucas will make him reconsider his decision. Whether this is the Queen of Hearts and the cards, or something he said (Perhaps what I believe it to be about not "choosing" who you love) after that we won't know until than. Who knows. -Brooke was the last girl to say, "Pick One" and Lucas picked the last card, which was the Queen of Hearts. -The Queen of Hearts is a card that is known for having a rose carried by the Queen in the picture. Brooke was the only girl in the dream sequence who was carrying roses. -And the most important of all: I began re-watching season 2 this morning and in episode 205, I Will Dare a little something got my attention immediately; Waiter: Let's try another name. Brooke: The Queen of Hearts. Once again, coincidence it may be, but I feel like Mark tries to leave subtle hints regarding his plans. If this were the case of course I would be elated with joy, but regardless of being for dramatic effect or foreshadowing, do we all agree that Brooke by far embodies the likeness of "the queen of hearts" more than Peyton even Lindsey? If I'd have to choose, Peyton would never be the queen of hearts. The analogy just doesn't work! She's if anything the queen of spades (it is of course the british slang word for a woman who has been widowed more than once) not that she has been technically widowed, but given her past it seems quite fitting. So I guess we will have to speculate a bit longer. What about this idea...Lucas's next book, The Queen of Hearts...a testimony to his love for Brooke, a series of love letters sent over the years? Hmm....I like the sounds of that one!

irene_p That's EXACTLY what i noticed too!!!!!!!!!! The phrase you can't find love, love finds you!!!!!(the man said something like that!). Apart from that in his dreams Lucas only said "i love you" to Brooke!

SG1-090 Okay i'll admit the queen of hearts name for Brooke is a little scary! But other than that i'm pretty sure this episode showed Peyton was Lucas's true love and this was the triangle over - as in Lucas's final choice!

lulubelle21 So I'm new to fanpop but I love the Brucas spot already. RealLuvAlwaysBL youre thinking what I'm thinking. I think there have been alot of little hints towards Brucas lately. Also, I think that it goes to show that LPers just don't get it. Sorry SG1-090 but the point of this article is that the fact that Gus's words in the epi, that you don't "choose" who you love is meaningful to the Brucas camp. I agree btw. I'm obvi a Brucas fan, but I'll bet Lucas hasn't found his heart yet. You can't choose it you feel it. Lucas said Brooke was the one...he felt it. Those were his words during the destiny shot. He didn't choose her, like picking out of a hat, or a deck of cards!

SG1-090 He also said he'd always known - and the guy said "if it makes you feel better to think you had a choice...." meaning lucas didn't really have a choice he just thought he did because he was always going to end up with Peyton.

mesmerized I'm not the biggest Brucas fan but oh my god did I hate Leyton in the premiere!!! 'I wanna be selfish with you'?? What a crappy thing to say, I can't believe some people find that line cute. I think that sentence says it all. It describes their relationship so well. Lucas and Peyton are so selfish when it comes to Leyton, they don't care if they hurt other people in the process all they see is themselves and all they do is what makes them happy. Their relationship is so destructive and hurts so many people that I just can't support it. Kind of off topic but whatever :p Just had to get that out of my system lol

randomgirl1200 okay, i just feel like leyton is soo disgusting, especially in season 6. they're unbearable and unrealistic and pretty gross. i love this article and I hope BL will one day return.
