WARNING: I am a harsh judge.

Okay, I first chanced across this spot about a year ago, I joined because it had a Sonic fancharacter in the icon, and I proudly support ALL Sonic fancharacters.

Then I got further into this whole 'LoM' deal.

I saw the designs of the characters and the artwork, I saw other's fanart and opinions on the tale of Sonic, Cyan, Cobalt, Aethon, Turquiose, Kovar, so on and so forth.

The thing that struck me was the sheer popularity of the series: If LoM was told to be this great, I simply had to read this storey that was said to be so amazing!

I was looking forward to something epic, something with a storeyline that was so far from normal in the Sonic fandom, something that made me say 'Wow'. Something that made me think that maybe Sonic fanfiction was something still worth fighting to protect.

To be frank, I was dissapointed.

I would say LoM is the 'Twilight' of the Sonic fandom. Everyone has heard of it. Most people adore it. But, frankly, it isn't actually all that good. Or at least, not as good as it's cracked up to be.

I couldn't read myself into this world. I couldn't read it and be standing there Coby as he went to battle with Kovar.

I couldn't see Turq and Aeth teasing Coby about his crush on Frost. Heck, I couldn't even see them hiding in the bush when Frost came.

It was as if a thick hase clouded my mind, and I could only make out the sillotte of the scene, I couldn't see the wind as it blew through the trees as I can with professional tales.

Now, I do know that Jessica isn't a professional author. But then again, neither is link.

Rae Logan is, without a doubt, what made me fall in love with Sonic fanfiction. Her 'Teaching Darkness' series is something that just blew me away, and I'm not just saying that because it features my faveroute Sonic character.

I'm no LoM hater. In fact, I LIKE the idea of LoM, it's just the way it's written that spoils it all for me. Jessica's command over words is strong and real, but just lacking in the way of identification.

I found myself lost in a world I had read about for years. I didn't like being lost.

The characters designs are NOT all that great, either. Aeth just looks to me like a Shadow recolor, and Coby looks like Sonic with a little bit of fluff on his head. However, I must admit the redesigns of both Aethon and Coby are a lot better than the originals.

I know that each are related to their basis, but honestly, must they be so similar? I think not.

I appreaciate Jessica's link, but when compared to someone like link, is Jessica worth following just for her art? I think not.

The personalitys of the LoM are brilliant, no doubt. I adore Aethon, he's just a wonderful character. "How many fingers do you think I'm holding up?" "50!!!". He's very loveable, really.

But truth is, LoM never has struck me as something brilliant, but I can understand that other's disagree. I think LoM could have a lot of improvement, but so can just about every tale in existance.

I conclude my opinion on LoM with the reminder that I am not easily impressed by a fanfiction, and to those who are head over heals in love with LoM, I tilt my head and say "What? Have you never read a link book?"
