Simon knew something was wrong. Right after he had arrived back in Nottingham, the other cult members had been leaving, one by one, until only he, Emma and Molly were left.
“What’s going on?” Simon asked suspicious.
Emma didn’t respond. Instead she walked to the kitchen, and examined the knifes in the knife block. She, eventually, picked out a medium one, and let it slide over the counter. “I thought I could trust you, Simon” she started, in a calm, but sinister voice.
Simon’s eyes shifted to Molly, but she just smiled, expectantly, and when he tried to back away, Molly grabbed him by the shoulders. Her grip was rather firm. “You can’t leave now. You are our guest of honor” she mocked a little breathless from excitement.
Emma walked up to them, with two knives and handed one to Molly.
“I really thought I could trust you” Emma sighed pitiful. “The sad thing is, I’m not even blaming you. I should’ve known you would choose her side over ours. Well, I hope you had your fun, and I sure as hell hope for your sake that you screwed her, because you will never see her again”
Simon swallowed, and glimpsed at the knife in Emma’s hand. “Please, don’t hurt her” he begged, his eyes getting wet. “I understand you have to punish me. I betrayed you. I take full responsibility for that. But Deb has nothing to do with that”
Emma turned the knife in her hand, giving the impression she was considering the idea of leaving agent Parker alone. Then she waved the knife at Molly. “Do you remember what I said, right after Joe died?”
“You said someone was going to pay for it” Molly recalled cheerfully.
“Didn’t I also make it quite clear who that someone was going to be?” Emma continued.
“Well, if I remember correctly,” Molly answered sarcastically. “you said agent Parker would have to pay for it”
Emma smiled proudly at Molly, who made a little bow. “So, uh, do you want to go first?”
Molly smiled gratefully, and jammed the knife in Simon’s shoulder. He screamed and fell to his knees.
“Get up” Emma ordered sharply. When Simon stayed put, Molly drove her fingers in the wound she had just made, making him scream again. “I said, get up” Emma repeated, impassive.
Involuntarily, Simon laughed. Not from joy, but because Emma reminded him of someone. “I think I’ve been here before” he muttered bitterly, as he slowly, but surely got back on his feet.
“Really?” Emma asked cocky.
“Yes, and the bitch, who told me the exact same thing you just did, guess where she ended up?” Simon panted, staring provocatively in Emma’s eyes. “In Hell. That’s exactly where you’re going…So, why don’t I save you a seat?”
He leaped forward, knowing Emma would fend him off with her knife. And indeed, as he grabbed her shoulders, he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. He fell to his knees again, and this time Emma knelt with him.
“Poor Simon” she mumbled, as she and Molly listened to Simon’s shallow breathing. “They used him. They planted ideas in his head, making him believe that we’re the bad guys, that it would be the right thing to do, to betray us. And look what it got him” She stood and looked up at Molly. “I can’t wait any longer. It will happen tonight. For Simon. And for Joe”
“For Joe” Molly repeated, fiercely.
