Chapter One: Ayla goes High School
~1 year later~
I leaned up against the counter and wiped my head off with the bib. Eli walked in with Ayla on his hip. It had been a year since I’d told him I was pregnant with Ayla. She was our joy now, besides each other. We were now 16 years old. Ayla was 1 and a half. She had my bronze hair and tiny curls at the bottom. She was teething…which meant Eli and I had little marks in our hand from time to time. I had one right now. Eli had about four. It was kinda adorable. Our small apartment was cluttered with baby toys, clothes, sippy cups, and Mot’s Tot’s juicey’s. I sighed and sat down on the couch. Eli put Ayla beside me and ran out of the room and into the bathroom. I pulled her on my lap and kissed her hair. I hugged her on my chest and grabbed her sippy.
You see, while I was pregnant nobody at Degrassi High knew I was pregnant. They all thought Eli and I were at some fancy boarding school; Eli went to Mayne Maro Christian School. He usually skipped into my later stages of pregnancy. Then we had our princess. And today I was going back for the first time back to Degrassi. The only person that knew about Ayla at school was Adam; Adam was Ayla’s godfather. He spent loads of time with Ayla. It was adorable. Eli liked watching it to.
My cell rang. I looked around for it and five minutes later found it on the couch.
‘Theresa’ it said.
I answered it, “Hello?” I said. “Clare, I can’t baby-sit…I’m sick.” I sighed and said ok and hung up. Eli walked back out, “Who was that?” I sighed and pressed on my temples, “Theresa cancelled.” Eli sat down beside me and Ayla. Ayla crawled off my lap and into Eli’s. Eli smiled and hugged her. “What do we do?” “I guess I’ll stay home.” I said. He shook his head… “We could take her to school and maybe have Uncle Adam sit.” “I guess we could try…let’s go to hell.” He laughed and planted a kiss on my head. He put up Ayla’s tiny orange tabby cat shirt and blew a kiss on their. I laughed and grabbed Ayla’s away things and her green carrier case, her diaper bag. Eli put her on his hip and carried her to the Lexus. He still had his old car and I had gotten a Lexus to take Ayla to a fro places safely.
~At Degrassi High~
Jenna was slim now; she was wearing regular clothes but still had a layer of baby fat. Clare didn’t. It made Clare feel good as she walked up the halls with Eli trailing behind her with Ayla. She knew they couldn’t stay in there with Ayla long; she would get fussy. But for now, it would be okay.
I could see Eli stiffen. “What?” “Fitz.”
