Yeah, wasn't sure how to title this one. Basically, I'm gonna go over the voices of the princesses and why they're top. You can expect some information too including voice actresses.

And yes, if you know/tolerate me, you can expect another thing from me that I'm sure ticks people off, but this is my opinion so...

...I don't think I have to explain myself with that one.

Favorite Princess Voice

10. Snow White

God her voice annoys me. I give serious credit to Adriana Caselotti for being an operatic singer by 17 years old (the same age she was when casted) but for today's standards, it's annoying. It's way too high pitched both singing and speaking and it makes her sound more and more immature than her teenage age. Plus, how many girls have you heard trying to match her voice but fail horribly? Yeah, imagine a headache like that from a few girls in a choir class. I wish it was more mature sounding, but I don't think Disney wanted a mature voice for the 'little princess'. Even as she aged, Caselotti's voice still remained as high pitched and annoying. Think about this: have you heard anything else from Snow White's original voice? Can't think of anything? Well that's because Caselotti bascially sold her voice to Disney and never had a career afterwards. In the end, she doesn't get a career and we get stuck with a high pitched princess.

Hey fun fact for you movie lovers: Walt Disney is credited for being the inspiration for Wizard of Oz due to the sucess of Snow White. AND during the song 'If I Only Had a Heart', you can hear Adriana Caselotti, the voice of Snow White, sing the line "Where for art thou, Romeo?". Cool huh?

9. Aurora

Sorry, I'm not really a fan of the operatic voices. And what sorta irks me is that Aurora's speaking voice is all innocent and high, but when she starts singing she suddenly turns into this opera diva with a seductive voice. I'll admit, I do like to sing, but I can't hit high notes and hearing Aurora (and even Snow White) made me feel worse about my alto voice. Much like Snow, girls in my choir tried to emulate Aurora to slightly better results, but still...don't try to mimic the original. Unlike Adriana Caselotti, the voice of 3 names (inside joke from two previous articles), Mary Costa, was able to have a sucessful operatic career and last I heard, she still does opera stuff. Her voice today has aged, yes, but I think Mary doesn't talk like speaking or singing Aurora. She just uses the normal voice that I would have liked to heard in the movie. If none of you think that, it must be me. I'm not gonna lie, I've had major ear issues since a double ear infection and my hearing's been so-so, so don't be afraid to admit your opinion on Mary Costa's voice.

8. Pocahontas

She upped one, way to go! I really appreciated the fact that they hired Native American actress Irene Bedard to voice the Native American princes, but I would have loved to hear her sing. Then again, I don't think any of the Native American voice actors in that movie do their own singing. Again, correct me if I'm wrong. Judy Kuhn is a great singer, but I don't think Judy's voice was a good fit for Pocahontas. Boo me all you want, but that's my viewpoint on it. I don't really care for Pocahontas in general, but at least it hasn't been last in anything thus far.

7. Mulan

Again, appreciate that Ming Na, an Asian, is voicing the Asian Heroine (Mulan's technically not a princess folks). Lea Salonga is from the Phillipines (so she's technically Asian too) and has a spectacular voice that worked for Mulan considering Mulan sang all the songs. When princess' singing voices are dubbed, you gotta make it work. This one did work from what I can recall (I've only seen Mulan like one time the whole way through). But Mulan's still kinda low because her voice was partly a fake man voice during the course of the movie too.

6. Belle

Paige O'Hara, what can I say? I can say she was at her peak in 1991 when Beauty and the Beast was released and her voice was a good fit for Belle. Then we reached a new decade. Oh Paige. You can tell her voice has aged, and not well. If you're not listening to aging Belle via Paige, you probably heard her second voice actress in House of Mouse during the Christmas song Jodi Benson, aka Ariel. This is why Belle has dropped out of the top 5. If it's not an aging Paige, it's the little mermaid.

Seriously, listen to the Disney Princess song "If You Can Dream", you can tell time has not been kind to Paige O'Hara's voice.

5. Rapunzel

When it was first announced Disney was making Rapunzel (before the title change), the original voice was going to be Kristin Chenoweth. I fangirled. I am a huge fan of Kristin Chenoweth whether it be Wicked, Pushing Daisies, anything she's in, I am a fan. Then it was announced Mandy Moore would be Rapunzel. I was slightly dismayed, but still okay because I'll admit, I was a fan of Mandy Moore. I grew up listening to her teeny bopper music, and she had done something Disney related prior to Tangled- Princess Diaries if you're interested. She did do speaking and singing, and it was pretty good. While I'd rather have had Kristin Chenoweth, Mandy Moore was still pretty good.

4. Jasmine

Fun fact, Linda Larkin was told she had to lower her voice. Linda is a high pitched speaker, but she still made a good Jasmine (whether anyone feels Jasmine needed a middle eastern voice or not). You can tell her voice switched in and out on occasion in anything Aladdin related she's done. Linda Larkin was the speaking voice, however; and there have been not one, but TWO different singing voices for Jas. The first one being Mulan's singing voice Lea Salonga. Lea's voice was absoultely perfect for the one song Jasmine sang in the original movie. But Lea did not return for the sequels. Granted she did do Jasmine's singing voice in Enchanted Tales and "If You Can Dream", but not for Return of Jafar of King of Thieves. No, that voice was dubbed by Liz Callaway. Liz is no stranger to dubbing singing voices: she dubbed the singing voices for Kiara in Lion King 2, Odette in the first Swan Princess, and most famously Anastasia in Anastasia. So she was chosen to be the new Jasmine singing dub. And honestly, she was pretty good. I love Liz's singing voice and seeing as though they couldn't get Lea, Liz did a good job as the back up option- thank God that Brad Kane was able to still dub Aladdin's singing voice. Sure I wish Jasmine's voice was consistent, but you gotta give credit for Linda Larkin for doing the speaking voice of Jasmine for anything and everything Jasmine related.

Fun Fact: Liz Callway's sister Ann sang the theme song to the show "The Nanny". Weird, eh?

3. Tiana

Again, they got an African-American to voice the African-American, way to go. Anika Noni Rose is best known for co-starring alongside Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls, and she beat out celebs like Alicia Keys, Tyra Banks, and even co-star Jennifer Hudson. Anika has the perfect voice for Tiana both singing and speaking. I love that her voice wasn't too high, but it wasn't that low either. It was just right.

2. Ariel

Everything was about the voice for this one. Jodi Benson landed the role of Ariel thanks to her working with the movie's songwriter Howard Ashman in the show Smile. Since landing the role of Ariel- both singing and speaking- Jodi has been the only voice for the princess. And that's good because Ariel's been in practically anything Disney what with the Little Mermaid show, Kingdom Hearts, House of Mouse, anything to bring the Disney princesses together, heck Jodi's even voiced Belle. I do like Ariel's voice, I'll admit (I liked it more when she didn't talk though 'cause the character was annyoing). Her voice, like Anika Noni Rose's for Tiana, was just right for Ariel.

1. Cinderella

Groan all you want, but this is my opinion!

I stated I loved practically everything about Cinderella and her voice is no exception. Ilene Woods (who I'm peeved DID NOT get recogintion at the Oscars in Memoriam) didn't even audtion for the voice. Some friends of hers were songwriters for the movie and they asked her to do a demonstration for how actresses should audtion. Well once Mr. Disney himself heard her voice, he hired her for both singing and speaking. And what a great move that was. I don't have much to say that I haven't said already. It wasn't too high, it wasn't that low, to use a different term, it was mezzo-soprano and it was perfect. Her voice conveyed any emotion for Cinderella give whatever circumstance the character was in and it was just perfect. As for Jennifer Hale, the current voice of Cinderella, she's doing pretty well too. I don't like her as much as I love Ilene, but she's a good Cinderella too.

So don't sue me for my opinion. And I will say, don't expect to see Cinderella first for everything.

To compensate for any inconvience, here are images of the voice actresses that I have mentioned above. No captions this time due to me having a massive headache for the past few days and not wanting to think.

And yes, all that info on voice actresses is from memory. So if there's anything wrong, feel free to correct me. Also, I know I neglected current voices for Snow White and Sleeping Beauty but that's because there hasn't been a definitive current voice since the original actress passed or retired. That, or I couldn't find any decent pics.

A year ago I played around with Google translate a lot and made a few hilarious articles about it. Google Translate meets the Disney Princesses style. This article is Part 2 of Google Translate Explains Princess Personalities. The first article below features: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle and Jasmine.

This article features: Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida and Moana.

I copy and pasted the information from Disney Wikipedia.

On the twelfth day of Princess Walt Disney gave to me

Twelve Wisps-a-glowing

Eleven birds-a-flying
Ten Spices Boiling
Nine Ships are sailing
eight mice a-sewing
seven dwarves dancing
six sisters singing
five cursed friend

four braiding girls
three fairy spells
two lucky pals
and the wisdom of an old tree

I guess nobody will be particularly surprised or upset that I picked Belle for December. Though, surprisingly, it was kind of difficult to find a really good picture of her in a snowy background. They usually feature sequel Belle, who looks kind of weird. So I did a lot of improvisation in order to create...

Today is a special day in Germany. It is Nicolaus day, the day on which children (and adults with a sweet tooth) put out their shoes in the evening and find it filled with sweets in the morning. So, in this sense, happy Nicolaus day for everyone!

The Princess which I picked for the June is Ariel. I mean, she just had to present the summer, right?

As you can see the holiday I picked is midsummer. The most famous midsummer...

The one thing missing in Snow White and the seven dwarfs is any communication between Snow White and the Evil Queen . Unlike in Disney's Cinderella and tangled all of whom are step mum verses step daughter. Two different people Snow White kind, happy and a giving person, whilst the Queen is a harsh, mean and only cares for herself.

In Mirror Mirror there is a brilliant showing of this in one of the first scenes.

So Snow White is 18 today. She is sad, lonely and bored in her bedroom, a bird pops in and so Snow White feeds it, then she hears a fanfare coming from downstairs. Snow gets excited...

This one is over a month late but I have reasons! 1. I kept forgetting 2. I had some personal stuff going on and I had personal reasons to not want to watch this movie for a while after watching the first one. But this movie and Ariel's Beginning are way overdue at the library so it's now or never and get even more fines.

Today's rewatch: The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea

How much did I like this movie as a kid?
Since I loved The Little Mermaid when I was little, of course I was really excited to watch Return to the Sea and when I finally did watch it I might not have...

After all that waiting here's the results of the first Old vs New survey, Sleeping Beauty vs Maleficent! I think this one is the only one where pretty much everyone answered the same thing and I'm not really surprised by the results for this one. The results are from the answers of users and my own answers.

Tonight's rewatch: Beauty and the Beast 2017 remake
Last time watched: 2017

How much did I like this movie as a kid?
I watched this movie as an adult but I still like to think I'm a kid at heart. So if you've read my article for Beauty and the Beast, you know I have a huge love for Beauty and the Beast, for nostalgia reasons and because I just love the movie. So when I watched the trailer for this movie I felt so much...
