I have returned after pretty much spending Christmas break w/ family (mostly my sister) and am in such a good mood due to non-Disney related epicness, Nostalgia Critic finishing Disneycember, and my shows returning while my favorite one comes to the finale.

But enough excuses. I also took time off to carefully go over the subject for this article because of very good reason. What's the reason?

I LOVE DISNEY SIDEKICKS!

Yes, the side characters are what make the movies for me in the Disney pics because I remember mostly their moments because they're awesome. To me, the sidekicks are the funny characters that are helpful to our main heroine or hero. So I'm counting down...

Favorite DP Sidekicks

And for the record, I'll indentify them by movie.

10. Pocahontas

Boo me all you wish but I don't think Pocahontas is a strong Disney movie and I don't like a lot of things about it. I'm not saying I hate it, but I just get bored watching it and I find nothing really exciting or memorable about it.

Sidekick wise, they stole this movie. I thought they were funny. Well not they I should say. I can't stand Flit, Meeko is better with Percy, Nakmoma's too serious and uninteresting, and the spirtual sidekicks aren't interesting or entertaining. I do like Wiggins though. I think Wiggins is my favorite character in this movie...which is kinda sad when you think about it.

Sorry, but I'm not really a big fan of Pocahontas today. Back when I was younger...I dunno, I wasn't as into her as I was the other princesses. I guess it's hard for me to like Pocahontas.

9. Mulan

Again, please attribute this to not seeing this movie for a while. Also keep in mind I don't own this on DVD or video.

What I do remember is the sidekicks were funny. But not memorable. Nostalgia Critic (sorry if I keep mentioning him but he's awesome and I agree with most of his viewpoints) did point out that he felt he was watching Eddie Murphy not as Mushu, but as Eddie Murphy. Honestly, I don't remember but now that I know more about Eddie Murphy and what he does, I should watch this movie again somehow. I honestly don't remember Cri-kee or the dog (Little Brother was his name right?). The 3 army buddies were pretty cool...but again, I don't really remember them.

When you make a stupid xmas list for your parents and you put mostly DVDs on that list...you won't get any of the good DVDs you asked for, trust me. Never put a Disney movie you don't have (Aladdin, Mulan, Rescuers Down Under, etc) on a Christmas list. TRUST ME!

8. Sleeping Beauty

This one should be higher up because the movie's really about the sidekicks right?

Wrong.

Well yeah, it is all about the side characters...but they're not anywhere near my favorites. Sure the fairies are cool but really it's just them I like side character wise. And most people consider them main characters too because they're in the movie more. What about actual side characters? The kings, the jester, Samson, the unnamed Queen without a voice actress? They're not entertaining to me. Okay, maybe the drunk jester, but I would've loved it if he talked. As for Diablo the raven...he was okay but he worked for the bad guy so I didn't really like him. The goons were tolerable and funny, but again they worked for the bad guy. And the animal sidekicks just annoyed me.

And yeah, I'm kinda cheating with the fairies. People either consider them main characters or side characters, but I'm not sure what to consider them. They're not that bad of characters, but they're not my favorites.

7. Tangled

Were any of the sidekicks girls? Seriously? I would've liked that Disney but noooooooooo!

The good sidekicks in this movie were guys. Pascal, Maximus, the Pub Thugs, the Stabbington Brothers. ALL GUYS!

Can you really count the Queen as a sidecharacter. I dunno. We don't see her much and SHE DOESN'T GET A SINGLE LINE!

Re-watching Tangled I think it's sexist. I do love the movie don't get me wrong, but the only strong female characters are the villain and the once titular character who has no social skills or real friends.

But I'll admit, the guy sidekicks are funny. I kinda wish Maximus and Pascal talked though. I also love the song "I've Got a Dream".

6. Beauty and the Beast

Originally they were higher up, but after watching almost all the movies again, I put them in the middle.

So what's the problem?

I love them as the objects they are that it's sad to know in the end they're gonna be human again. Granted I still like human Lumiere and Cogsworth (I loved Lumiere in general, he's my favorite BATB character), I didn't much like Mrs Potts or Chip. And you gotta wonder how an old lady has a kid (or kids counting the other 'brothers and sisters' of Chip) under 10 when they've been cursed for 10 years exactly.

But I digress, maybe they were frozen at the ages they were cursed.

Chip I think they tried to make too cute and he does kinda annoy me at times. As for Mrs. Potts, I'm not really sure how to feel about her. She was just there and I got used to her, and that's how I feel about her today. Cogsworth is uptight and works best when paired with Lumiere. Maurice is a typical bumbling Disney father. The dog (named Sultan in the sequel) has no purpose. The bimbettes are annoying and too stereotypically blonde for me. Phillipe...he had some purpose but I didn't care for him and I question how he knew where the castle was when he didn't go there himself.

So the only sidecharacters I like are Lumiere and Lefou. Lefou is funny and he's like Gaston's punching bag. So I give credit to the little bugger for taking all that abuse with humor.

Seriously though, Lumiere is awesome and I wish Jerry Orbach was still with us. R.I.P. Lennie Briscoe ("Law & Order" reference if you didn't catch on).

5. Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs

While I may not like the heroine, hero, or villain, I do love the sidekicks.

The seven dwarfs were the first sidekicks practically everyone was introduced and everyone practically loved them! If you asked me to pick my favorite dwarf, I couldn't. However, if you asked me to name them in alphabetical order, introductory order, or line formation order during "Heigh Ho" I could totally do that.

When we had to downsize after my gramma died and move to a 2-bedroom apartment (which sucks), we sold our toys. However, the toys I did keep were the 7 Dwarfs. I have them lined up in formation order on my shelf...unless the cats knocked them down again then I will go fix them (I have OCD it's a habit).

But this movie is here in the middle for a reason. While the good human sidekicks are fantastic, the animal sidekicks are not. Granted, they were cute and helped Snow White they were just there to be cute helpful animals. I would've liked to have seen Snow White handle the scary situations on her own without the animals, but that wasn't gonna happen was it? As for the villain sidekicks...scary. The huntsman when he was gonna kill Snow White and the Magic Mirror...scary. The raven? I don't remember because I'm always too scared to watch his scenes because the witch is there.

So that counts as scary too.

As for the 7 dwarfs, I love 'em and I'm always gonna love 'em. And if you forced me to pick favorites I'd probably pick Bashful, but only by a close margin.

4. Cinderella

If the movie wasn't focused on the human aspect of Cinderella, it was focused on the mice.

And it's a good thing the mice were entertaining. I mean, there were some moments where they're scenes seem to drag on forever, but you still like them don't you? At least I do. Plus I love that the sidekicks get their own villain via Lucifer the cat.

Human sidekick wise. The Duke is hilariously uptight like Cogsworth, but because he does the prince's job for the prince, we like him. Fairy Godmother, awesome and casting Verna Felton as the fairy godmother was perfect. The stepsisters had their moments too.

But again, there were a lot of sidekick filler scenes with the mice and while it got annoying, we still liked the mice in the end.

3. Little Mermaid

For the record; Sebastian is my favorite Disney sidekick. He's never been the main focus of any Little Mermaid story, he actually goes through some good character development, and he's a talking reggae singing Jamaican crab with his own side villain. Bonus: the voice of Sebastian originated the role of Mufasa in the Lion King Bway show AND released albums of him as Sebastian singing pop songs with reggae beats.

Now the other characters.

I would say they're all male, but technically they're not. There's Carlotta with her small part, there's the 6 singing sisters with their small parts, and can you count Vanessa with her small part? You see where I'm going with this?

Going over the others, I really only like Scuttle and Louie. Scuttle is one of those dummies that always thinks he knows what he's talking about or what he's doing when he clearly doesn't and to me, that's funny. Louie, I just think he's funny with that accent and the extremes he tries to go through to make a crab dinner.

Flounder...he's okay. I dunno, I think they tried to make him the cute character. I'm not so sure but to me he's okay. Max is okay too but I wish he would talk. All the sea animals and a bird talk; why can't the dog? Probably because the movie would be over with faster due to Max knowing Ariel's identity, but I still wish that he and Ariel could communicate or something. Grimsby, again too uptight. Flotsam and Jetsam work for the villain and were the ones who screwed up the almost kiss prolonging the movie a little more. Do we consider Triton a side guy? He's also okay. The seahorse served nearly no purpose except moving things along w/ Sebastian talkin' to Triton. I think those are all the other side characters.

All in all, this movie is high up because of Sebastian. And by the by, which song from Little Mermaid won Best Original Song? Which other song was nominated? So yeah, the Academy likes Sebastian better too (btw "Under the Sea" won the Oscar and "Kiss the Girl" was the only other song from the movie that got nominated)

2. Princess & the Frog

I frickin' love these sidekicks! Let's discuss them.

Louis: funny and talented with a horn- one of Disney's best musical gators.

Ray: funny, helpful, good songs, and I'm so glad Jim Cummings got a much bigger role in a major Disney film. And his ending, while sad, had a happy outcome that surprised me in a good way. My favorite song from PATF is actually "Ma Belle Evangeline".

Mama Odie: Bad-ass 197 year old blind lady (pardon my French). I kinda wish we saw more of her and Juju because she was funny and her song was also pretty good.

Charlotte LaBeouf: AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! Finally, Disney got a female sidekick and they got it right. Charlotte is hilarious. I love that she also cares about her friend and her friend's wants and needs and that she can help her...and she does try and help her. Plus Charlotte has just the right touch of selfishness, not a lot, but what the selfishness she has is funny.

Those are the ones I like, and now onto the rest. Big Daddy, didn't really have much of a part but he did serve a purpose. Lawrence, an uptight who worked for the bad guy. Yes, he did serve purpose, but I didn't much care for him and found him interesting when he was disguised as Naveen. Tiana's mom- while supportive- doesn't have much of a part and her father falls victim to DPDS (Disney Parent Death Syndrome). Do we consider the Fenner Bros. or the rednecks side characters? I didn't like them either.

Honestly, I liked the sidekicks better than the princess so this is why they're high up.

1. Aladdin

Okay, before you start calling me a bias hypocrite, hear me out.

I know they're all male sidekicks, but that's because there's a strong female lead romantically involved with the hero. Adding a female sidekick to an already male dominated movie, in my opinion, would be unnecassary and serve no use.

Also, there's not a lot of sidecharacters to hate.

Abu: next to Parker, he's the world's greatest thief (Leverage reference btw). Sure he can't talk like a human, but we can understand him and we care for him. Abu is helpful and serves to the plot.

Carpet: A MAGIC FLYING CARPET! Need I say more. Carpet, like Abu, is there for Aladdin and provides excellent transportation and he can beat a magical creature in chess.

Iago: Funny. He's also there throughout the Aladdin series keeping the same Gilbert Gottfried voice. He does switch sides, but he keeps his same egotistical personality.

Sutlan: He's a funny bumbling father who cares deeply for his daughter and his kingdom. Plus he's the only human father who likes to play with toys, so he has a childlike innocence to him.

Rajah: Jasmine's only friend beforehand and pet tiger who, although we can't understand him, we know he cares and wants what's best for his mistress. He has no bad moments in any of the Aladdin series.

Genie: HELLZ YES HE'S AWESOME! Genie is funny, he's helpful, he can have emotional moments too, and he's my second favorite sidekick. I have nothing bad to say about him.

I have nothing bad to say about the Aladdin sidekicks in general. I for one would love to pal around with a monkey thief, flying carpet, funny parrot with a comedian's voice, and a hilarious magic genie. Wouldn't you?

Well, that's all I have to say about that. Again, these are my opinions, please respect them.

And now I will leave you with pictures of the sidekicks. I can't very well leave individual pics of my favorite sidekicks so bare with me in pics.
I LOVE HER!
I LOVE HER!
My list of favorite Disney Princesses has undergone a slight change. Moreover, this time I will start from 12, not 10.

12- Merida
The only princess I hate is Merida. Actually, she was one of my favorite princesses for a while, but as I got older, I started to dislike her. And right now Merida is at the worst place on my list.
Merida fans: Crying
Those who don't like Merida: Happy
I don't like Princess Merida because she thinks illogically and ruins her life despite her mother's efforts.

11- Aurora
Well Aurora is a much loved princess and I know you adore her but I... I don't like her very much. She...

10- Princess Mulan
Just being in the bottom of my list, doesn't make her VERY ugly. How can I say she is just... Less prettiest. I love her black hair and her eyes are pretty OK for me, but her eyebrows... They are very thick especially when she becomes a boy.
Also, her eyebrows are raised a lot higher than they should be, which makes her pretty ugly.

9- Princess Merida
I just adore the color and curve of her hair. But her face and eyes are too round. Especially her eyes. OMG, her eyes are like some strange balls. Her smile isn't ugly, but her teeth are very small.

8- Princess Esmeralda
She...

1. Congrats on being Fan of the Month! How does it feel?
Thank you!! I am very honored and I feel very excited because this is the first time I'm Fan of the Month.

2. How did you find this spot and what made you stay?
I'm a big fan of anime, I remember watching “Fushigi Yuugi” at that time. I was obsessed with Tasuki. I still like him (but I don't get obsessed anymore, LOL). Anyway, I was looking for pictures and screenshots of him. That's how I found Fanpop. My reasons for staying? Because I like to participate in activities (polls, quizzes, answers), I made good friends, I love sharing...

1998
1998
Okay, as promised! Here is the comparison both the 1998 animated feature as well as the 2020 live action reboot. Ready?

The Story

So we start of with the Invasion of the Huns in the animated film, as well as reporting the invasion to the Emperor. We see Mulan getting ready for the Matchmaker later on.
In the live action version, we see Mulan's childhood and even has a sister who is specially created for the film mainly for character developments. (tied)

The Characters

We get to see Mushu in the animated version, this is due to comic relief for the entire movie. He, Cri-Kee and Little Brother...

On the fifth day of Princess
Walt Disney gave to me

Five cursed friends,

four braiding girls,
three fairy spells,
two lucky pals,
and the wisdom of an old tree.

In case you haven't noticed yet, when I put this calendar together, my goal was to make it as international as possible..meaning, it wasn't supposed to feature the holidays of a specific country, it was supposed to feature holidays which are as widely as possible celebrated, or at least well-known. I also tried to find holidays which could be in some way be related to a princess. Hence I picked Rapunzel for May.

As you can see, I...

It's typical of sequels to come out about 2 or 3 years after the first film. Sometimes, sequels come out the year after the first one. However, Frozen 2 has come out 6 years after the first film. That's something it has in common with Alice Through the Looking Glass, which came out 6 years after the first film. Of course, the big the question is if the wait was worth it. In this review, I will discuss how the two films compare to each other, as well as give my feelings on the premise and cast of characters.

Frozen 2 brings back the cast of the first film (excluding Prince Hans and the Duke...

Anastasia and Dmitri
Anastasia and Dmitri
Hi guys, it's been ages since I had written my last article that I decided to write another comparison article. This time it is both Anastasia and Cinderella, ready?

Anastasia

So, we all know about what happened to Anastasia. Upon watching this for the first time in many years, it was like Anastasia became Cinderella because she was like the lost princess that her beloved grandma is looking for, hence the ballet by Sergei Prokofiev was shown during the scene when they were in Paris, France.
The music box plays a role in the movie, it is very similar with the glass slipper in Cinderella. Both...

I saw some other members do articles like this so I figured, why not give it a try? :)

11. Aurora
Ever since I was a little kid Aurora didn't leave much of an impact. I've always hated the whole "love at first sight" deal so I really don't like that she quickly falls in love with literally the first guy she meets and then gets all upset that she can't see him anymore after only meeting him once for a few seconds. Then there's the fact that for the rest of the movie she's asleep so there's nothing else we get to know about her.

She is really pretty, I've always loved her design and her dresses...
