So many times have I heard that Disney Princess movies are for little girls who wish upon a fairy godmother, want to be rescued by a handsome prince and live happily ever after. This is so not true and doubt all those who have opinions like this, if they have ever watched any DP movie seriously. So here's my 5 reasons why adults should consider Disney Princess movies as serious entertainment

5. Animation Art:
Any adult who have serious interest in animation art will not only enjoy the ever-evolving animation style from Disney studio but will find that animation in these movies are top-notch. Most of all the movies under Disney Princess are in top 100 animated movies list. From golden age Disney's animation style of legendary films like Snow White and Seven Dwarfs that paved a revolutionary new medium of animation into theaters and have received honorary Oscar along with being enlisted in America's 100 greatest film along with Cinderella to modern CGI films like Tangled, Brave and Frozen. To say the least, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast have been critically acclaimed for its highly detailed animation. The Little Mermaid was the first animated film to be nominated for best picture in Golden Globe Awards and BATB, the first animated film ever to be nominated for Academy Awards and to win Golden Globe award for best motion picture.

4. Accolades for Best Song/Music:
Disney Princess movie began the trend of including soundtrack album for the first time ever in all American history of film-making with Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. Prior to Snow White, a film soundtrack recording was unheard of and was of little value to movie studio. Ever since, each Disney Princess movie songs have been nominated and won several awards for its most memorable songs ever made. To name a few, Under The Sea, Beauty and the Beast, A Whole New World, Colors Of The Wind, Let It Go.
The Little Mermaid had broken all records of shipment of 2 million copies of soundtrack album for any animated feature film in its time.

3. Most Memorable Characters:
Needless to say, Disney Princess movies have brought alive the most memorable characters ever written about in classic fairytales and build along the same lines to add to these, Snow White, Maleficent, Cinderella, Ariel (little mermaid), Beast, Genie, Aladdin, Elsa. Beauty and The Beast remains the most widely appreciated and critically acclaimed animated feature film of all time that Disney has ever produced with a compelling and intriguing plot-line, characters having much more depth, greatest of songs and grand animation. After Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that paved the way for animation feature film making, Cinderella has remained an all time favorite among large audience worldwide and after 60 years of production, it continues to be among the most memorable characters ever designed. Genie, was also widely acclaimed for its unimaginable depth of character.

2. Tackles Serious Real-life Issues:
Disney princess movies are not just about pretty women romancing in beautiful castles and vistas with charming prince. The story line has lot to offer from emotional to awe-inspiring to gripping twists in plot-line. These movies takes on some of the very real life challenges like abandonment, abuse, quest for exploring among children, interpersonal relationship communication, family honor, cultural differences and peace, career-orientation, anger, to name the most obvious ones. And more than kids, adults have seriously never probed deeper into these problems and tend to ignore them. So, if you are wanting some self-help kind of advise, DP movies have a lot to offer.

1. Best Lessons in Morals:
Children often watch these movies for pretty entertainment factor, even though parents take them to these movies for better moral value lessons. I feel, there's a much greater need for adults to appreciate some of these lessons and moral values, more than children, as they are the ones who are exposed to much harsher reality. And adults often resort to quick solutions, easy way-outs and tend to ignore some of the very important values which they'd have subconsciously absorbed in their childhood. So many of us still do not understand love, compassion, kindness and a will to live happily for oneself as much for others. Simplest, yet strongest and most important of messages has been portrayed over the years in all of the DP movies. If only adults were open enough to receive it and regard it as serious content.

DP movies are more often overlooked as chic flicks as best, if not "for children" only, when it comes to considering "adult" animation entertainment content. This truly makes me think that adults have rather forgotten the simplest yet most important things in life.
