I opened my eyes to see the beautiful lancscape lighting up. I slowly sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I could feel something was missing, but I didn't know what, I just knew it was important. I looked around.
I got up and grabbed a fresh outfit, the last outfit I would ever wear while I was single. I showered as quickly as possible. I was getting a mani-pedi today, from Alice. And she and Rosalie were going to choose the best style for my hair. Everything for the wedding was set and ready.
I walked down the stairs in a pair of designer jeans and a purple and pink dressy top. I decided to wear black stilletos for practice, manuevering down these stairs would be, difficult. Especially in my beautiful gown. Which I couldn't wait to wear.
I looked around the downstairs area, no one was around. So I went to the kitchen and grabbed a bagel. Then I decided to take a walk outside. I strolled to the river, walking a few feet from the bank.
I walked for who knows how long. I didn't keep track of time. Before long, it started to get dark. I turned around, seeing how far I'd gone, but I couldn't see the house. I started to panic. I didn't want to be in the woods alone at night.
A howl sounded in the distance. I started to walk back along the river, retracing my steps. But I heard a noice in the water. A splash, which made me jump. I started to pick up the pace when I felt something brush my exposed right shoulder. I spun around looking for what had done it, but I couldn't find the source. I started running. I was freaking out. I ran as fast as I could, but something grabbed my leg. The ground rushed up at me. I put my hands out in front of me to catch myself. I felt a twig snap under my left palm and another imbed itself into my right index finger. I pushed myself up and looke around, I must have tripped. I ran slower, but kept going. I felt another tug on my jeans and looked down to see what it was, but there was nothing there. I picked up the pace, and I could see the trees parting to expose the house. I smiled in triumph, so happy to have an escape. But something pulled me back. Something that was colder than ice.
