This takes place after the quest, "The Cure for Madness" where the Dragonborn lies to Astrid telling her that Cicero is dead, she has doubts and decides to go look for the jolly jester herself.. Feel free to give me reviews! I'll write more if enough people like it!
Astrid's POV
The Dragonborn tells me that Cicero is dead. And although he has been a loyal member of the family, I don't believe him. His eyes flickered when he told me about Cicero's death. So I'll go to the Dawnstar Sanctuary myself so I can see the jest's lifeless body for myself..
I'm inside the Sanctuary now and it does seem that there was a struggle here, there are countless ash piles from what I think to be ghosts, and the Troll that Cicero wrote about in his journal, Uderfrykte, lays dead in his cave.. There's blood everywhere, but still no sign of a body. I finally reach the center of the Sanctuary where a great pool of blood sits. I get this feeling I'm being watched.. and then I see a tiny scrap of paper that contains the riddle:
Where do the thieves play, among the rats who tend to stay?
That's easy, it's common knowledge that the Thieves Guild's headquarters is located underneath the town of Riften inside the Ratways. Cicero seems to underestimate me, now that I know he's alive, I'll have the Dragonborn's head when I return, but not until I do what even the great Dovahkiin couldn't. It's time to kill the fool who attacked my family out of madness!
I'm now under Riften in the Ragged Flagon, a sort of pub where thieves get some grub and sell their stash for a pretty penny. I decide to ask my buddy Delvin, who is an associate to both the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieve Guild, about Cicero. "What brings you here, Astrid? I've been sure to protect your Falkreath Sanctuary from our Thieves." He talks as if he's been expecting me, "I've come to seek vengence on the man who attacked me and Veezara, some would say he's an insane jester who whistles to himself many tunes." Almost immediately he replies, "Cicero? That madman was here just a few hours ago. He seemed like he was badly hurt, did your werewolf of a husband attack him?" "Yes, Arnbjorn injured him, but he seems to be good with his butter knife, did he go into the The Ratway Warrens?" "Yes, but be gentle, he seemed to be in a lot of pain." So I head off deeper into The Ratways..
I should've brought a torch with me, I didn't realize how dark it would be in here,it's a good thing the Mages at Winterhold taught me Candlelight.. wait, what was that noi-"Astrid.."
"What in Molag Bal! Cicero! Show yourself!" His eyes appeared first. No matter how insane he was, he always has these bright yellow eyes that always seemed to pierce me. I was captivated, but this is not what I was here for. The rest of his body comes out of the darkness, he was wearing only rags, although he kept his jester hat but he seemed different, like the cut on his side was affecting him.. "Cicero is not feeling well, Arnbjorn got me good, and he got me when he was a werewolf too. If you've come to kill me, you'll do me a favor. Cicero doesn't want to live this life as a werewolf, I've already begun feeding on dead bodies. Just please, make it swift." I hardy heard anything because I noticed his face looked more rugged than the babyface he once had. He looked a lot like Arnbjorn and it was like I couldn't help myself, but I walked up to Cicero and I..I kissed him, his beauty surpasses Arnbjorn's and yet he still has that ruggedness in a werewolf that I've always loved..
What will Cicero say about this? Will Astrid pursue these new found feelings for Cicero? What would Arnbjorn think? All of these questions will revealed if people actually like this!
