This are, in my opinion, the best quotes of the double episode with which Everwood said goodbye. I apologize for any spell or grammatical mistake.I couldn't find the script so I did it myself...
Jake: Ephram Brown!
Ephram: Hey Jake
Jake: I’m gonna miss you in your solemn ways
Ephram: Any word on what’s gonna happen to the place when you guys leave? I heard something about, erm, Thurman opening up a maracan restaurant?
Jake: Yeah, the guy is obsessed with belly dancers, but no, we’re not gonna close it, we’re just gonna hire a new manager.
Ephram: Oh yeah?
Jake: Yeah. And Nina is gonna come back once a month for a while just to help with the transition.
Ephram: That’s good.
Jake: Yeah.
Ephram: You know, she’s, she’s the first person I met when I moved here. So she’s a big part of the reason Everwood feels like home to me, and to my dad.
Jake: Right.
Ephram: Guess that just why it all seems so sudden, you know
Jake: How do you mean?
Ephram: Well she’s been living here her entire life, perfectly happy, surrounded by people that she loves, people who love her, people who would do anything for her. You know? It’s… big decision.
Jake: Well, I know it might not make sense from the outside, but Nina and I are in this together. I’m not twisting her arm.
Ephram: Yeah, but you have to admit it’s all a bit surprising.
Jake: Well, life is supposed to surprise you. I bet you’ve got a picture in your mind about how everything is gonna turn out for you. What you gonna do, who you’re gonna be with, and I’m sure your dad had a picture too. But there are windows that don’t stay open forever, missed opportunities that never come back to you, and waiting for them doesn’t necessarily mean you’re strong or even right. Sometimes it just means that you’re afraid to change the picture. It happens to everyone. You know what I’ve learned? Life is too short. Take care of yourself.
Andy: Hey Jake. How’s the packing going?
Jake: Good, we’re almost done.
Andy: Oh great.
Jake: Yeah. Ahh, we found a few things of yours and I… thought I’d bring them back to you.
Andy: Thanks.
Jake: There’s it
Andy: No, I really don’t know what…
Jake: That’s Delia’s. It’s a curling iron.
Andy: Right, right, for the hair, ok.
Jake: And…You probably want this back to. It’s yours right?
Andy: I’ve been looking for that. Where you found it?
Jake: Is that really what you want to talk about right now? …
Andy: (over Jake’s voice) Jake…
Jake: … ‘Cause I was thinking of starting with why you bought my girlfriend and engagement ring. But, if you want to talk about where I found it first…
Andy: I never gave it to her.
Jake: Well I’m not really sure that’s the point.
Andy: That actually is the point. As long as you and Nina where together I had no intention of ever giving her that ring. It has nothing to do with you.
Jake: So basically, you bought it just in case we broke up, which obviously you thought we would.
Andy: Well I’m not gonna lie to you. I was hoping it wouldn’t work out. But seeing as you two are moving to California tomorrow, I obviously was wrong.
Jake: You were wrong. That’s all you have to say?
Andy: Oh no, I have a lot to say. But I don’t think you want to hear it. Because I think she made a mistake. I think I love her more than you ever can or will. But it’s over Jake. You won. Nina chose you again.
Jake: Well I guess, that’s what’s bordering me.
Andy: What it’s that?
Jake: Well, if Nina keeps choosing me, why do I keep having the same conversation with you?
Jake: So, what would you have said?
Nina: Hm?
Jake: If Andy had asked you to marry him. What would you have said?
Nina: Are you serious?
Jake: I’m curious.
Nina: Well, obviously I would have said no.
Jake: Is it that obvious?
Nina: I love you Jake. If Andy has feelings and does crazy things because of those feelings I can’t control that.
Jake: I know. But you still thought you had to see that ring.
Nina: I don’t know why. I guess…I just got caught up in the moment. But I wish, I wish that I hadn’t, I wish Ephram hadn’t told me about it in the first place. Can we just forget it ever happened?
Jake: I can forget about it, if you can be honest with me about something.
Nina: Of course. Anything.
Jake: Do you still love him? (Nina says nothing) Well, I guess I got my answer.
Nina: No, you don’t. It’s not that simple.
Jake: Except that it is. Or at least it should be. And we have to talk about it before we get on that plane. Are you still in love with him?
Nina: I don’t know, maybe a part of me is? Small part, but I think that’s normal considering our history. But, but none of that matters because the bigger part of me is in love with you and, and living tonight for a new life together. And once we’re gone this whole Andy thing will be behind us. I mean, deep down isn’t that part of the reason why you ask me? So we could… start a new life without anybody in the way?
Jake: Yeah, actually it was. But I realize now that that was a wrong reason for me to ask. And the wrong reason for you to say yes. I can’t be with someone who has doubts Nina. No matter how small they are. I need someone who wants to be with me as much as I want to be with her.
Nina: But I love you Jake.
Jake: I know. But I don’t want just part of your heart. I want all of it. And you can’t promise me that. Listen to me, when I first came to Everwood I had a serious drug problem, and I knew it. But, I try to ignore it. I just pretended that it didn’t even exist and for a while, that actually worked. But you can’t pretend forever. You can only pretend for so long and that’s why I slip up. Well it’s the same thing with you and Andy. We can ignore it now, and maybe everything will be fine, but we both know that is not gonna go away. And to be honest, I’m tired of pretending that it would. I want you to know, this last 2 years have been the best of my life.
Nina: Jake…
Jake: I mean it. I never expected to find love here in the first place. Or to find myself. And I did both of those things because of you. You change my life.
Nina: Wait, no…
Jake: don’t wake Sammy up until I’m on the plane ok? I’m gonna miss you Nina.
Nina: I’m gonna miss you too.
Andy: Nina?
Nina: I don’t think you need to read this after all.
--------------------------------------------------------------(cut from part 1 to part 2)
Andy: What are you doing…?
Nina: Shhh…
Andy: Sorry. Aren’t you supposed to be on a plane?
Nina: Yeah, that was the plan.
Andy: Well, what happened? Where’s Jake?
Nina: Probably somewhere over Arizona by now. It just didn’t feel right. I mean, not right enough. And I gue…actually I know, that was the best decision for everyone, although I’m not sure Sam seeing it that way.
Andy: Is he asking a lot of questions?
Nina: Yeah. I don’t think he really gets it yet but, I don’t know how to explain it so…
Andy: Well, I’m sorry Nin.
Nina: It’s okay. I’m just so sorry to bother you with this. I just didn’t know where else to go…
Andy: This is exactly where you supposed to go. You don’t have to apologize to me. Well look, I’ll go set up Ephram’s room.
Nina: That’ll be great and I promise I’ll have a game plan tomorrow morning.
Andy: You don’t have to figure this out by tomorrow. Take some time. You can stay here as long as you need to.
Nina: Thank you Andy.
Andy: (at the cemetery) Hello Julia. Yeah I know, you were never a big tulip fan, but I couldn’t find a flowery shop so I tried 3 grocery stores and this is the only flower that looked like it might make it to the night. I’m assuming you already know that. I’m also assuming you already know why I came, but… I’m gonna go ahead and say it all anyway. I’ve changed a lot Julia. I’ve learned that being a good friend and a good parent are really the only things that make you sleep better at night. I’ve learned that what bothers you about your kids is whatever you have in common with them and what you love about them most is the stuff that you have absolutely nothing to do with. I’ve learned that pain and suffering are unavoidable but ultimately they are what bring you closer to other people. And lately, lately I’ve learned that it’s possible to fall in love again. I try hard not to. I really did. It’s so unfair to you, you know? It was you who I wanted to be this guy for. I’m just so sorry I couldn’t when you were alive. But I love her Julia. I love her and I’m going to ask her to be my wife. If she says yes I’ll take that as your blessing. And if I’m gonna be the kind of husband to Nina that you would want me to be, then I think that this should probably be our last goodbye. Thank you sweetheart, thank you for loving me, thank you for teaching me what love is in your life and, and even more so in your death. And thank you for blessing me with two exquisite children, in whom your spirit will always live on. Goodbye Julia.
Bright: So, you come any closer to making a decision? About school…I mean
Hannah: Ahh, no. Is getting ridiculous since my registration is due like tomorrow.
Bright: I think you should go to Notre Dame, Hannah.
Hannah: What?
Bright: Is not because I don’t love you, I really do love you but, this is, is the right thing to do.
Hannah: I don’t understand. Why…
Bright: I was all ready to tell you to not go to Notre Dame. A had a hole speech all planed out knowing my charm would probably would’ve worked out. But I was doing it for me. Ok, cause I couldn’t bear the thought of not seeing you every day, and because part of me was hoping that maybe we would get back together or something…
Hannah: Really?
Bright: Yeah. But I know I was being selfish and, come on, if there’s anything you taught me, when you love someone you’ve gotta put them first. You worked or ass off to go to Notre Dame and you should go. You deserve to go.
Hannah: Yeah but I…
Bright: The only reason you wouldn’t go is ‘cause your afraid you’re gonna lose us, come on Hannah, that’s not gonna happen. All right? We’re gonna always be here, I’m always gonna be here for you. I know I’ve let you down before, I promise it’s never gonna ever happen again.
Hannah: Bright…
Bright: So it’s gonna be me and you, just, best friends, for life. Ok?
Hannah: (nodding with her head) For life
Ephram: So did you see nanny and grandpa when you were in New York?
Andy: No time. You won’t believe to cross Bronx these days. It took me at least 3 hours to get back from the cemetery. So, what do you think? I look ok?
Ephram: Yeah, yeah I like it.
Andy: Ok.
Ephram: So what ah, what exactly did you do while you were out there.
Andy: Well I took some flowers and then I just… talk to her. I know it sounds strange but it’s what I needed to do.
Ephram: No. no it doesn’t sound strange. I mean, when we first moved here and you were talking to her in public, that was a little strange but… So you’re really gonna do it ah?
Andy: No one could ever replace your mother Ephram.
Ephram: Oh yeah, I know, I know that. I mean I was just, I’m so used to things not working out the way they’re supposed to that when something looks like it actually is going to I get a little freak out.
Andy: Yeah well don’t jinx it ‘cause she hasn’t said yes yet.
Ephram: Yeah but you know what I mean right? I mean, everyone’s got that picture in their mind, the one with, you know, how they think their life is supposed to be. Just, makes me wonder if I should hold out a little longer for my picture, you know. Amy and I.
Andy: Well the thing about the picture is how do you look in it. Is not about who you’re standing next to, or what’s in the background. Is: are you smiling? Are you happy? Are you good with the choices that you’ve made? Because if you are it, it, it doesn’t matter where’re your standing or who you’re standing next to. It’s, that’s a good picture. And you are way out of the game Ephram.
Ephram: Well, it doesn’t always feels that way.
Andy: But you are. I’ve watched you this year. I have, I have watched you take your pain and your chaos and, and turned them into something beautiful. You’ve changed people’s lives. You have saved people’s lives, mine included. You’ve made peace with your past. You opened yourself up to the woman you love and, and you bounced back with stile when things didn’t go your way. You’ve been brave and honest, and you’ve got a hair cut which makes the picture look even better.
Ephram: (laughs)
Andy: I’m very proud of how you turned out, so no matter who you do end up with, she’s gonna be lucky to have you.
Ephram: There’s something wrong with this. I mean, isn’t usually they guy who’s right about to propose that gets all the advice? I feel like I’ve let you down…
Andy: Well… is there erm, anything in my teeth?
Ephram: No
Andy: Then you’ve done your duty.
Ephram: You nervous?
Andy: You bet your ass I am.
Ephram: Better get going.
Andy: Right. Right, good, ok. Ohh… and amm, by the way, I just want you to know that if all works out I’m expecting you to be my best man, and I didn’t have a bachelor party the first time out so ah, there’s a lot of pressure.
Ephram: Ah, dad…
Andy: Right, closet, door.
(Ephram goes out of his house and finds Amy with a Ferris wheel waiting for him)
Amy: Don’t say anything yet. I wanna go first and since I brought the Ferris wheel I figure you’d let me.
Ephram: (says nothing and looks at her)
Amy: Ok. Ahm, 4 years ago, you came to my little town and you changed my life. I never thought that one person could do that to another, but you did. And from the moment that I met you and each moment after that, somehow everything that happened to me keep coming back to you. I don’t know if the Ferris wheel reminds you of anything?
Ephram: Are you kidding me? Who could I forget our first Thaw Fest? It’s when you first told me your nickname was Grover.
Amy: I can’t believe you remembered that.
Ephram: I remember everything about us Amy.
Amy: Me too. See that’s the thing. Every time I try to forget the feelings that I have for you they just, they keep coming back and now they’re back. And I don’t wanna push them down anymore. I don’t wanna run away from us. Because I never wanna lose you again, I just wanna be with you, next to you, wherever you are.
Ephram: Amy…
Amy: And I’m sorry that it take me so long to figure it out, I really am, ‘cause I, I hate all of the time that we lost and I know it’s my fault. I just really hope that you can forgive me…
Ephram: Amy… (he’s been moving closer to her)
Amy: … ‘cause I love you Ephram, I love you.
Ephram: (kisses Amy) Is my turn yet? (Amy nods) Good, because I love you too. I knew it then, I know it now. I knew it always, you’re it Amy, you’re my one.
Amy: I am?
Ephram: You always have been.
(They smile at each other, laugh and look at the Ferris wheel)
Amy: Wanna go for a ride?
Ephram: In a second. (They kiss)
Jake: Ephram Brown!

(They kiss)
