Ah props. They used to be a way to acknowledge on a peer to peer level that someone has posted something good. Back in my day we used to give props if someone posted a good video, or said something intelligent but now they're thrown out like...condoms in high schools? *shrugs*
What are props?
Props are small medals that you can give to other users if you see them post something good.
eg; User_X posts a good video, User_Y gives User_X a video prop!
How can I give someone a prop?
You can give users props by going to their profile and clicking on the "Give Props" button, then type them a short message of what you appreciated and choose the correct prop type.
I see other users throwing props around, so it should be ok?
If you saw those other users jump off a cliff would you also do it...if you answer yes then the internet may not be a good place for you.
What are some bad examples of prop giving?
- User_X offers props to people that will join a club they created
- User_X offers props in a "competition"
- User_X gives props in chain letters
- User_X gives props because you're their bff
I personally think it would be great if we could get at least 30% (yes, the percentage is shockingly low of how I see props being used) of users using props correctly. If we got 50% it would be amazing and if we got 100% I think it would be a miracle. So lets just do the best we can in understanding what props are for and use them correctly.
Note: There is no "User_X" if one is ever created I appologise for tarnashing their name before it ever existed. Sorry!
