Freddie Prinze Jr. Talks Mutant X
April 2003

Freddie Prinze Jr. told The Continuum that he hasn't seen the episode of Mutant X that he has written - yet.

"One Step Closer," an episode spotlighting Brennan, airs in syndication this week.

"My wife doesn't want me to see the finished episode until it airs this weekend," Prinze said, referring to Buffy the Vampire Slayer star and Scooby-Doo co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar.

"Seth (Howard, Tribune's creative executive) sent me the dailies and the show looks amazing. They did a great job with my script and I can't wait to see the final result."

Prinze's connection with Mutant X was through Howard, with whom he is friends.

"We had been talking about Mutant X early on back when he was developing the series," Prinze said. "He knew how much I loved the idea of the show and how excited I was to see a show about superheroes."

"Then, after the first season, he suggested that I write an episode. We talked back and forth about the characters and he knew that I had a real feel for the show. He then read some other stuff that I had written and said that I would be perfect to write a freelance episode. I said yes and he put me to work with the writing staff soon after that."

Prinze hasn't been shy about his love of comics.

"Yeah, I still read them," he said, listing Silver Surfer and The Thing among his favorite characters. "Actually, I just started re-reading an old Thor storyline that I am really enjoying."

Mutant X is Prinze's first television writing experience, but probably won't be his last.

"I am writing a lot these days," he said. "Working on some movie and television ideas. I would love to write another episode of Mutant X...if they ask me back."

In other Mutant X news, the second-season finale is set to air in syndication the week of May 12.

In the episode, a reluctant Shalimar must reconnect with her estranged father when the Mutant X teams learns his company is involved in genetic testing and manipulation.

Eugene Robert Glazer plays Shalimar's father. Also look for the return of Mason Eckhart, again played by Tom McCamus.

The episode was written by Peter Mohan, the show's supervising producer and head writer, and was directed by producer Jonathan Hackett.

Prinze Enjoys Teen Idol Status
Actor Collects Honors, Gets Ready for Marriage
August 2001
By Anthony Breznican

LOS ANGELES - Freddie Prinze Jr. is in no hurry to outgrow the adulation of teen-age girls, even if he'is in his mid-20s and getting ready for marriage.

"I enjoy knowing that this specific group supports me and believes in me and wants good things for me," the 25-year-old actor says. "Not everybody has that."

Although Prinze may not make Oscar-caliber pictures, he has collected multiple acting honors from Teen Magazine, not to mention Male Hottie of the Year honors at the 1999 Nickelodeon...

"They told my mom I was schizo"

By Bryony Gordon

How did Freddie Prinze Jr become Buffy the Vampire Slayer's husband? Bryony Gordon meets him.

Deep in the bowels of the Garrick Theatre, London, I am embroiled in a discussion with an actor about George Bush, the alleged stupidity of Americans, the economy, religion and Confucius. Actually, when I say having a discussion, I am lying, because I am too shocked to speak - not because of the opinions being spouted by my companion, but because he is Freddie Prinze Jr, the 26-year-old Hollywood actor whom I previously believed to...

Oh, the pain, the pain! "It only takes 30 seconds to pluck my eyebrows, but it hurts," says Freddie Prinze Jr. "I have to tweeze 'em in the middle once a week. Otherwise, I look like Bert from Sesame Street. I've been doing it for 11 years!" And you thought it was easy being a teen idol. Still, the 24-year-old Prinze doesn't have to do much other grooming to draw young females to the box office. His routine? "I shower, throw some goop in my hair, get dressed, head out." But it's his manner, not his matter, that impresses. "He's the kindest person, and...
