NOTE: The following story was written for a friend. I just wanted to keep this in mind. Enjoy

It was a very foggy morning. It looked like a swamp or something from a scary story. Driving or walking through it was a frightening experience. The roads were dangerous as you couldn’t see at all. Accidents would often occur from time to time. None have been reported as of now, but everyone knows that these things happen even when we aren’t aware of them.

I was still sleeping in my bed when my alarm clock went off. I turned it off and slowly rose from the covers. My hair was messed up and I looked like a wreck. I started to think about not going to school, but the echoes of my mother’s voice made me changed my mind. After fixing my bed and my hair, I went downstairs to the kitchen. I wasn’t in the mood to chat, so breakfast was pretty silent and dull. My mom asked me if I completed my science project that was due today and I responded, “Yes, I did it last night.” She was proud of me and gave me a gentle hug. Minutes had flown by and it was time for me to go. I said my farewells to my parents as I left the door. The fog was very dense and made it difficult for me to see. I carefully made my way through the end of the driveway and stood by the street waiting for the bus to come.

The bus had a very rough time making to my neighborhood. Because of the weather, the driver almost missed it and it was a tad late picking me up. Some of the other kids, who live in the same neighborhood as I do, were also having a rough time. I sighed as I closed my eyes and tried to get some sleep. Just when I was starting to doze, something hit me on the left side of my cheek. I quickly opened my eyes and looked down to see a rubber band. I picked it up and looked around until I figured out who threw it. It was a couple of boys who enjoyed teasing me everyday. Although getting angry doesn’t help anything, I do hold a big grudge against them. There were times where I was sent to the principle and got in trouble. I always try explaining my side of the story, but they don’t take me seriously. How they don’t believe me I’ll never know but it happens. After figuring out what happened, I put the rubber band in a pocket on my jacket and went back to taking my nap. Shortly after, the bus stopped at the school and I woke up after having a good dream. I got off the bus while rubbing my eyes.

School isn’t fun- especially for me. People always liked teasing me, making fun of me, and spreading rumors that weren’t true. I was a laughing stock and always the one who got picked last for everything. My life isn’t great but why do I care? No one will ever like me, no one will ever care for me, and no one will share anything with me. It’s been like this sense I was twelve. When I was little, I was liked by everyone. They always were attached to me in every way, they always knew what to say when I was sad or down, and I was cute as a button. But I am nothing more than some disgrace who’s just a monster in everyone’s life. I’ve had quite a few friends who were never rude to me, but they moved away or had better things to do than to deal with me.

After making it through three periods, fourth period was my science class and this was going to be a special time for me. I carried my project all the way into the other side of the school. My science teacher came and helped me. “Is this you’re science project?” She asked. I nodded. “This is very impressive! You put a lot of work into making this. I think you’re going to get a fine grade on it.” My science teacher was very nice to me. She always found a way to make me smile. She even cheers me up when some of the kids are picking on me. She would always give me cookies which she makes herself. She’s the best teacher ever. As my science class went on for the first hour, the lunch bell rang and everyone went out to the cafeteria. I’m always sitting by myself when I eat which isn’t so bad. It’s sometimes hard trying to enjoy your meal when you have strangers watching you eat and trying to form conversations when you don’t know what to say. After lunch, I decided to go back to the room early so I can work on my speech. I made a long journey back which wasn’t bad. As I walked into the classroom, my mouth dropped opened as my eyes got bigger. Lying on the floor was my science project- broken, beaten, and ruined. I stood there for a good minute in silence. I then started crying. I cried so loud that my science teacher heard me out in the hallway. She rushed into the room and gasped at the sight of my project. She quickly grabbed me and hugged me. She was comforting me.

Although my science project was ruined, I got a good grade on it. It wasn’t an A, but it was better than nothing. But this wasn’t the only thing that made me happy. My teacher found out that it was two boys who ruined my project. They were in the same class as I was, but I wondered why they did it when I didn’t do anything to them. She sent them to the principle and were sent to detention for a week. Things were finally looking up for me. I even went home happy which surprised my parents. As the rest of the day flown by, I started off to bed. Just after I turned the lights off, my cell phone started vibrating. I turned the lights back on and looked at the caller ID which said, “Unknown Number”. I wasn’t sure whether to answer it or not, but my mind told me to answer it. After I said hello, a guy’s voice was heard. “Hey. My name is Kasey. I go to your school. You may not know me, but I know about you and I was wondering if we could be friends. If you agree, wait for me outside the school when you arrive. I understand if you decide not to meet me. Goodnight.” He hung up the phone before I could say anything. I was aroused with shock but also confusion. This guy named Kasey really wanted to be my friend? It couldn’t be true.

Another morning had arrived and the conditions were the same. Thick fog continued to cover the air and I wasn’t at all impressed. Despite the weather, I had something on my mind. Last night, I received a text message from an unknown person who goes to my school. He mentioned his name but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Out of all the people I have seen, the name “Kasey” just didn’t ring a bell. All what I could do was expect for the worse or surprisingly for the best. I got on the bus which arrived on time thankfully and it arrived at the school right on schedule. I got off the bus and proceeded to going in, but I suddenly remembered something mentioned on the text message. He told me to stay outside from the building. It was a little chilly so it was hard waiting. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait too long when he finally arrived. He was very tall and handsome. He had dark brown hair, was wearing an Anime design T-Shirt, wore blue jeans and was wearing a nice pair of shoes. I couldn’t believe who I was staring at. “Hello,” He said to me while smiling. “I’m glade you’re here. You must have gotten my text message.” I was speechless. I couldn’t believe that this guy was actually talking to me. I wanted to scream or cry but that would’ve been embarrassing. Instead, I blushed a tad and formed a little smile. “It’s..nice to meet you too.” I responded. The guy chuckled and gently put his left arm around my shoulder. “Let’s go in together okay?” He said while looking down at me. I nodded and we both walked in.

Kasey was a very, very wonderful person. No matter what happened, he always smiled. I used to not be good with interacting and I still am not. Thanks to him however, I can interact with him and not expect the worse at all. When I am picked on, he was always there guarding me and teaching them to be reasonable. I usually pick feuds with others, but this guy certainly didn’t. He was the kindest gentlemen of all. When I had a hard time or a bad day, he was always there to cheer me up. He would give me big, warm hugs and always said to me, “Everything’s going to be alright.” He was like a prince to me. I knew from then on, my life would never be the same when it comes to the only person I trust and care for the most- Kasey.

This was how it all began. Our friendship continues to be better and he would never change or do anything to reject me. He is the kindest person alive and someone whom I will always put my trust in. I really hope you enjoyed this sweet little story as I wrote it to show everyone that not everyone in this world can to be so cruel and mean. Sometimes, when you don’t look closely, there are little angels in God’s world and these angels are the ones that will change your life forever. Thank you for reading and have a goodnight.
