Darkness.

And illusions.

The boy opened his eyes.

“Where am I?”

Two faces lowered to him, and as his sight began to clear out of the misty curtain, he was once again reunited with his old acquaintances.

“Lync?”

Prince Hydron’s voice was shaky and weak, as he had suffered a large amount of wounds. And the pains, the horrible pains were tormenting him.

“Volt?”

He tried getting up, but no use – he couldn’t even more his arms for support. His face was scarred with terrible scratches. And blood streamed down from his cheek.

Hydron could hardly move his eyelids, and the figures and he see started melting, upon a mist screen, preventing his eyesight.

“This must be it… a place where the deads could reunite, and… sins… are judged…” he thought to himself, as his eyes began to shut down slowly, and sank into a deep unconscious state.

“Wake up.”

Said a rather familiar voice. A voice which Hydron knew very well.

“You’ve been sleeping for hours.” chanted another one.

Trying hard to get up, Hydron was supported by a steady hand of Volt.

“Finally make it here huh?” Lync said, sarcastically.

“But where are we?”

Taking a look around, Hydron couldn’t help astonishing what he was seeing. The land was a total color of darkness, and nothing but only rocks scattered everywhere.

“The Dimension of Doom,” replied Volt, severely. “Where anything that gets in, never gets out.”

Silence.

“Does that mean… we can never get out now? I don’t believe it! There’s gotta be an exit somewhere, and we just have to find it, right?” Hydron stood straight up.

“You made it sound as easy as a joke,” Lync teased. “The Doom Dimension has a transporting gate, and it’s very random: when it opens, it opens everywhere, every time, and lead to any place in the entire Universe. And, how the heck are we going to find the gate on this endless Dimension anyway? Do you expect it to appear right in front of us?”

“Close to right.”

A strange voice echoed upon the gloomy night shadow, coming from darkness, making all three of them turned around, alerted.

“Who’s there?”

Walking slowly from the darkness, a figure appeared. It was a boy, with blond, spiky hair, wearing a mysterious blue mask, wearing white coat and purple leather pants, and a smirk plastered on his lips.

He approached them without any hesitation. A strange aura, glowing dark purple lights wrapped around him, flickering like a flame. As he was several foot from the intruders, he stopped and raised his voice. The grave, deep voice:

“It seems like… you are all stuck here, and pitifully, the only way you know to exit is the Transporting Gate… which… according to the prophecy, will not appear until the next two months…”

“Who do you think you are, to talk with us in such a commanding voice, mister?” Lync growled.

The stranger’s smirk did not fade, as he continued:

“I am the one who has set my eyes on you for a rather long time… I am the spirit which has been stranded and forgotten, and lost in here ever since Naga is defeated… I am… the spirit called… Masquerade.”

“It can’t be…” gasped Lync. “The legendary Darkus brawler…”

Folding his arms before his chest, Masquerade smiled, arrogantly.

“So you have heard of me then. A fierce, and powerful brawler… But have you also heard that, I am one of the Guardians of the Dimensional Transporting Gate? I hold the key that leads to our freedom.”

He held up a silver necklace chain. A small, violet crystal was attached to it, and inside the crystal, a dark purple substance twisted and turned, like a struggling spirit trying to escape. The crystal’s aura was also glowing purple, like the lights around Masquerade.

“This crystal can help us summon the gate, set our destination, and in a flash we are all free. But, in exchange…”

Masquerade lowered his voice.

“But, in exchange, one of you must sacrifice and be my avatar. Since my spirit would disappear if it is out of the Doom Dimension, I can’t make my way to the exit… alone. All I need is a one, a body that I can use, a shelter for my soul. I shall pick one out of three.”

He then beckoned Hydron and approached him.

“I will have you!”

His aura bursted, vigorously.

“Say your name, boy.”

“H-Hydron.”

Masquerade reached out his hand to touch the boy’s shoulder, and told him to close his eyes.

“The forces of Underground,
The spirits of Dark Magic,
We hail to you, mystic powers, underneath
Let my soul enter his heart.”

When the last sentence of the spell was read, there was a roaring thunder which lights across the sky. A stream of strong winds poured in, blowing the white cloak of Masquerade and the brown one of Hydron fluttered, as the figure of him melted into a column of dark purple smoke and flew straight to Hydron. The aura, which has wrapped around Masquerade the whole time, now was around Hydron’s body. The aura flame was ten times more blazing than before, and when it vanished, Hydron opened his eyes, and both Lync and Volt recognize a great change in him.

“Alright. Let’s get going.”

Hydron’s eyes were muck darker, and it contains something arrogantly. His hair was even more golden, and his lips, a very Masquerade-is smirk placed. He was no longer the Hydron they used to know.

The charm of purple crystal now found its place around his neck. As Hydron-Masquerade touched the surface of the crystal, a spark of lights flashed up, and after it, opened the gate of Dimensions.
