2NE1 vs. Girls’ Generation — PopCrush Battle Of The Bands (Round One)
When it comes to K-Pop dominance, no two acts manage generate quite as much feverish, shaking and crying fandom as Girls’ Generation and 2NE1.
The two mega-popular groups have managed to carve out names for themselves not only in South Korea, but in several other territories as well, including Japan and China — even the United States. (In fact, Girls’ Generation is the first-ever girl group to have two number one records in Japan.)
Girls’ Generation, eight-piece troupe (formerly nine – gone but not forgotten, Jessica!), has amassed an incredible following with their sleek choreography and a discography of international pop hits, including “Run Devil Run,” “Mr. Taxi,” “I Got A Boy” and “Party.”
2NE1, on the other hand, has garnered an incredible amount of attention for their futuristic, forward-thinking style and genre-blurring smashes like “I Am The Best,” “Ugly,” “I Love You” and “Come Back Home.” Not only that, they officially have the best-selling K-Pop album in America (Crush), and member CL is now setting her sights on a total US takeover.
Which band deserves to move on to the next round of PopCrush’s Battle of the Bands? You can vote for 2NE1 or Girls’ Generation in the poll below. Voting closes for Round 1 on October 12 at 5 PM ET.
