Chapter 5 Emergency
Giselle quickly picked up the phone and called Robert. The phone rang a while before she heard a familiar voice.
"Hello." He answered.
"Adrianna has a fever, I don't know what to do, she's only two day old… how…" Giselle babbled nervously.
"Giselle!" Robert interrupted. "First calm down. What was her fever?" Robert asked, thinking it wasn't a fever and Giselle just freaked out.
"102.4," Giselle answered almost crying. Robert's face showed is fear.
"Call the hospital right away, when you have time to call me, call I'm going to come home as soon as possible. Bye." Robert demanded, before hanging up. Giselle quickly hung up the phone before she realized Adrianna was having trouble breathing. She quickly dialed 911.
"Hello?" A policeman asked.
"Hi, I have a daughter that is only two days old and she has a 102.4 fever and she is now having trouble breathing." Giselle quickly informed.
"Ok were going to send an ambulance right away, where do you live?" He asked.
"100 16th in Broadway, room 180 on the second level." She responded.
"Thank you they'll be right there and stay calm." He comforted. Giselle impatiently waited for the ambulance. She slowly rocked Adrianna back and forth in her arms. In minutes the ambulance sirens went off. A doctor quickly appeared in Giselle's room and carried the baby out to the truck. They rushed her to the hospital trying to get her to breathe on the way. Giselle came with them but she was no help. She passed out on the floor of the ambulance.
Robert had gotten a phone call from them and he quickly picked up Morgan and went to the hospital. Not only did he not have Adrianna but he didn't have Giselle either.
"Is everything ok?" Morgan asked.
"Adrianna is sick and Mom got nervous and passed out." Robert explained.
"When I'm sick I don't go to the hospital." Morgan said.
" Babies aren't suppose to be sick at this young with a fever like this." Robert informed.
"Sir, we don't know if your baby is going to make it." Nurse Gracie sadly informed.
Chapter 6 Tears
"What? What do you mean?" Robert asked as his heart panicked in despair.
"Well were running tests to find out what's wrong but it's very rare for a baby to get sick at two days old. The odd thing is she was fine when she was born." Nurse Gracie informed.
Robert let his tears drop. "How's Giselle?"
"Well she's ok and she doesn't know anything yet."
Morgan turned to her father and let a tear carve a path in her face. "Is everything ok?"
"Morgan… Just have hope that everything will be ok." Robert choked.
"You said that about Mom too! She's not in this world anymore!" Morgan raised her voice.
"Shhh, Sweetie I can't help it. The only thing we can do is hope and pray. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. We can't control it!" Robert explained.
"Daddy I don't want to lose her. I know I've only known her for two days but I love her." Morgan sobbed.
"Me too honey. Me too." Robert let his tears fall once more. He pulled Morgan into a hug to comfort her and himself. Nurse Gracie walked back into the waiting room with a smile on her face.
"Giselle is awake and ok." She smiled, "You may go visit her."
Robert grabbed Morgan's hand and went into Giselle's room. She was sitting on her bed relaxed. She was in deep thought and hadn't realized they had come in.
"Hey sweetie." Robert wiped his tears away.
"Oh, hi." Giselle widened her eyes as she snapped back into the real world. "Is everything ok with Adrianna?"
"I don't know."
"I do." Nurse Gracie smiled with excitement. "She only has a cold. Of course it's not healthy for her especially this young. But if we keep her here overnight and give her antibiotics she'll be ok in no time."
"Thank you." Giselle smiled in relief.
