People know that I love Batman. I love Batman a lot! Batman is a wonderful character who has the best villains. One of my favorite Batman villains is the Riddler. A lot of what I love about the Riddler comes from Frank Gorshin, the first actor to play him. Frank Gorshin is among my favorite actors and is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to me as a writer of villains. I could go on for hours about how much I love Frank Gorshin and still have more to say. Because of that, it's my honor to go over the career of this legendary actor.

Frank Gorshin was a popular comedian. What made him known as an actor was the 1960's Batman television series. Like Adam West, Frank Gorshin was a fan of the Batman comics. He was cast as the Riddler. At the time, the Riddler had only appeared a few times in the comics. Joker, Penguin and Catwoman already had lots of stories that established what they were like, but the same could not be said for the Riddler. Because of that, a lot of the Riddler's personality traits came from Frank Gorshin's performance. The Riddler went from being an obscure rogue to being one of the most popular Batman villains. This was because of Frank Gorshin's incredibly influential performance. He appeared in eight episodes of the show's first season. He was also one of the four main villains of the 1966 movie. He even performed a Riddler song on The Dean Martin Show.

Frank Gorshin became such a beloved, busy comedian that he wasn't available for the show's second season. However, he managed to briefly return for the third season. In 1979, he gave one last performance as the Riddler in the Legends of the Superheroes TV special.

In addition to being a great comedian and live-action performer, Frank Gorshin was also known for being very good as impressions. Because of that, it makes sense to me that he voiced some Looney Tunes characters. In a couple of cartoons, Frank Gorshin briefly got the chance to voice Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam and Foghorn Leghorn.

Since Frank Gorshin's most iconic role was the Riddler, a lot of his later acting roles involve superheroes. He made guest appearances in Wonder Woman and Lois and Clark: The Adventures of Superman. He also had a guest appearance in Johnny Bravo.

In 2003, Frank Gorshin played an exaggerated version of himself in Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt. It was his last time acting with Adam West and Burt Ward.

One of Frank Gorshin's last acting roles was The Batman cartoon series. This time around, he was cast as a different Batman villain. He voiced Professor Hugo Strange. Frank Gorshin was a brilliant actor, so he didn't make Hugo Strange sound like the Riddler. He gave Hugo Strange an incredibly distinct, unique voice. He managed to make Hugo Strange one of the most intimidating villains in the show.

Frank Gorshin passed away in 2005. However, his impact on the world was far from over. His version of the Riddler has continued being incredibly influential. A Riddler that was based on Frank Gorshin's take on the character appeared in 2016's Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and 2017's Batman vs. Two-Face. Also, tons of merchandise of Frank Gorshin's Riddler has been made in recent years.

Frank Gorshin has left behind an impressive legacy. He has the honor of being the very first actor to play a classic Batman. To this day, he remains the best actor to ever the Riddler. He was and always will be one of the greatest performers of all time.
