I am not biased in this I love them both.
Its going to be hard to compare the two greatest books and movie series ever made. Although I will try anyway!
MOVIES
1. Grossing- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows made 1.328 Billion Dollars. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King made 1.119 Billion Dollars. Potter wins this round!
2. Scenes- Harry Potter had really great scenes. Such as the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort in the OotP or the Battle of Hogwarts in the DH. LotR also has great scenes such as the battle of Helms Deep, Pelennor Fields, and when Frodo throws in the ring. I think I'm going to have to give it to LotR just for the shear magnitude and epicness of it all.
3. Acting- Both movies cast gave it there all. I could always feel there emotion. I cried with them, laughed with them, and made the journey with them. I'm going to say its a tie between them!

BOOKS.
1.Creativity- JKR created a secret society and carefully placed it into ours. She brought back old legends and created new ones. She made us believe in magic, which was a great feat. But JRR created an ENTIRE world. He made languages, histories, secrets, treasures, creatures, and all from one line he wrote on a blank paper. "In a hole in the ground, there lived a Hobbit". I'm going to go with JRR on this one.
2. Writing- Both books have excellent writing. Its pretty hard to compare them, I could only think of one thing. Description. JRR was sometimes a little over descriptive. It sometimes made it harder to keep reading for me. But JKR gives us just the amount of information we need at that moment. I'm going to give this to JKR.
3. Character Development- These authors did very well with character development. At the beginning of Harry Potter, Harry is just this naïve little troublemaker with a knack for dangerous situations. But as he matures he learns of his destiny to destroy Voldemort, and when he finally fulfills that destiny, he gets the happiness and peace he never had as a child. While in the beginning of LotR Frodo is a carefree, funloving Hobbit. But as he journeys out through his dangerous quest he has to fight against Gollum and the rings corruption, and the evil of Sauron. When he finally casts the ring in the fire he is a changed hobbit, his old self was left on the journey. Both authors display this almost perfectly so it is a tie
In my eyes they tie for both movies and books. You may have different views but one thing you cant deny is that these will be a part of us forever and to future generations.

If you would like to add anything or say who you think would win comment please! This is my first post so any feedback will also be appreciated!

I was handing out candy for Halloween. A little boy dressed up as Harry Potter came by and as he was walking up the driveway he dropped his wand. I told him he dropped his wand and he looks at me and shouted “ACCIO WAND!” and twitched his hand (which had a string attached to the wand and to his finger) and his wand came shooting up to his hand. He got the rest of my halloween candy and 5 dollars.

Today I got stuck in traffic on my way home from work. Usually I hate traffic.. However, the van in front of me was showing Harry Potter on their TV screen. I love traffic today.

Today, I was driving...

Below is my review of the 2009 movie called "HARRY POTTER and the Half-Blood Prince". Directed by David Yates, the movie starred Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Sir Michael Gambon:

"HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE" (2009) Review

When the producers of the latest installment of the HARRY POTTER movie franchise had announced their intentions to push back the movie’s release date from November 2008 to July 2009, a relative of mine had expressed disappointment. My own disappointment was muted by the possibility that the movie required further retakes for improvement. After...

Part 2, Woot!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We arrived at Kings Cross a few weeks later. I had bought a small black cat named Midnight, after having a hard time chosing between cat or owl. I also had a 9 1/2 inch Willow wand with dragon heartstring in it. I walked around, stroking my cat, looking for platform 9 3/4. All I saw was 9 and 10. Where was it? I walked around for a few minutes, wondering what to do. I even asked a few people, but they either told me I was crazy, or said that there was no such thing. Several minutes later I saw a person...
The Hogwarts kids aren't getting a summer vacation. Daniel Radcliffe and his crew of young wizards and witches have been jetting across the globe to promote "Harry Potter" film #6 — "The Half-Blood Prince" — and when they return to the U.K., they'll pick up filming the two-part franchise finale, "Deathly Hallows."
Away from the film set, though, and settled into their spree of red carpets and media interviews, the cast and crew were able to reflect on how they plan to bring a rewarding end to the decade-long film series and which "Deathly Hallows" scenes have them sweating under their...
Headmaster Albus Dumbledore: His first name is from the Latin word alba, "white." His last name, according to Rowling interviews, is Old English for "bumblebee." In colour symbolism, white often stands for purity, so the headmaster's name suggests honour and a hard-working nature ("busy as a bee").
Professor Binns: A bin is a large storage container. A dustbin is British English for a garbage can. This boring professor could be described as a ghostly storage for information that many Hogwarts students view as rubbish.
Headmaster Armando Dippet: Armando is from the name Armand,...
