1. Learn something new!
It helps us learn something new every other time. From our vocabulary and Grammar, to slavery and discrimination, we learn about something new every other minute and we learn it completely. It teaches us both the advantages and disadvantages of every thing, not just the meanings and concepts. It also gives us the opinions from every direction. For example; We saw how the treatment of house-elves and werewolves differed with every person. Few could be accepting, few would show pity, and few others would be downright horrible to them. This also teaches us the practicality and reality of life and society.
2. Values and Morals
We learn so many values and morals by reading the series. We learn the importance of friendship and bonding from our beloved golden Trio. We learn that, sometimes, some sacrifices have to be made if we want something much better from Dumbledore. We learn the disadvantages of power from Tom Riddle. We learn the dangers of authority being given in the hands that are not really fit for the post, from Fudge. We learn the importance of freedom from Dobby and laughter from the Weasley twins. We learn Loyalty from Sirius and Hagrid, and see the importance of right parenting from Mr and Mrs. Weasley. We learn the wrong type of parenting from the Dursleys and the Malfoys, and we also learn, even if children are spoilt very badly, and thought unjust beliefs, they know to choose the right thing atlast, from Regulus, Draco and Dudley. We learn to be ourselves no matter what the others think, from Luna. We learn to stand up for ourselves from Hermione. We learn to never ever give up from Ginny. There are still lots and lots of things we can learn... but it's very hard to stop once started!,
3. Types of Love?!
We came to know that there are more types of Love. Just hand holding and kissing is not love! We learnt that there is more to love than that. A mother dying for her child is love. A mother lying for her child is love. A mother killing for her child is love. A man dying first to give his wife and son time to escape, is love. Three friends doing years of hard work and enduring pain so that their other friend didn't have to suffer alone, is love. A man risking his life and escaping from a herd of soul-suckers to protect his godson, his best friend and a brother's son, is love. A man avoiding any type of relationship with a woman who loves him, because there are slight chances that he will hurt her, is love. A boy breaking up with the love of his life, a girl erasing her parents memories and a boy faking a deadly disease, just to protect their loved ones is love. A boy stepping away from his only friend and the love of his life, watching her fall in love with his enemy and getting married to him and giving birth to his child, but still risking his life to protect her and later her son and eventually dying for her, is love. We still learn so many types of love from the series, to be honest!
4. Reality!
We learn the reality of life from J.K! We learn that everyone has to die at some point. Sometimes people die too early. Sometimes, people die too late. And sometimes, sadly, people who doesn't deserve to die, still dies. Life s not a fairy tale. If we lose a shoe at midnight, either we are extremely clumsy or we are drunk. Life certainly doesn't give you everything. Life isn't always fair. Good always wins, yes! But that doesn't come without sacrifices. If there is a war, both the sides faces losses. Not everyone will get their happily everafters! Sometimes, some people's lives just becomes a 'Once upon a time'. But that's life. That's reality. And we learn that we cant just live in a dream land, dreaming our life away. We have to work hard, sometimes work smart, sacrifice, face losses and take the steps to our destinations, simply because there is no elevators to success. This has been proven and learnt, not only by the Harry Potter Series, but also from the biography of J.K.R's life itself.
5. Literacy and Literature!
The Harry Potter Series has been the reason for many people turning their attention to books. Reading and Writing has increased, mainly because of them. I mean, just look at how many fanfictons are there based on the Harry Potter fandom. It may be good, better, best, bad or worst. But millions of people had taken the initiative to read and write, just because of the works of our beloved J.K.Rowling!
So, I think you might have liked this. I am a hardcore Potterhead, just like trillions and trillions of people in this World! And, I seriously hope the amount would never cease growing!
