This Heart will start a Riot! in me
Chapter three
Josh's POV
I couldn't believe it. I was so sure that Hayley wouldn't feel the same way back, and then she kisses me!
I kissed her back passionately. I had waited so long for this moment. It seemed dreamlike to me, that this could even be happening.
After a few minutes we both reluctantly pulled away. Both of us gasping for air.
“Hayley that was,”
“Amazing.” She breathed.
I smiled. “Well I was going to say perfect, but yeah amazing will do too.”
She laughed. “I've wanted to that for so long.”
“So you've been crushing on me too?”
“You have no idea.”
“So, are we official now?”
Her mood seemed to shift. “Josh, it was only a kiss. An amazing kiss. But I think we both know this is a serious decision. We should talk about it first. We have to think of the band.”
“I know.”
“I mean, do you really want to have the band all about us dating? Or what if we were to break up, what would that mean for Paramore?”
“I've already thought about that. Hayley, I love you. Do you love me?”
She nodded. “Yes yes yes. I love you Josh Farro.”
“Then isn't love enough to take the risk?”
“But if we break up,”
I interrupted her. “We wouldn't be like that. You and I have been best friends for a long time, and we wouldn't let a breakup ruin that friendship or Paramore. We both know that.”
She shook her head. “I don't know. Can we just talk about this tomorrow. I can't think straight. I'm really sleepy.”
“Sure. Just please think about it some more, ok? And always know that no matter what you or I say or do, I'll always be your best friend.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
“I love you josh.” She yawned.
“Love you too, spongebob.”
“Hey!” She pushed me playfully.
I gave her a quick goodnight kiss, and then climbed back down into my own bunk.
*the next morning*
I woke up to the smell of something burning. I followed the smell to the kitchen, and found Hayley standing in front of the stove.
“Hey.”
She looked back. “Oh hey.”
“You're cooking?” I asked in disbelief.
Hayley never liked to cook.
“Well yeah. I thought everyone would enjoy having a different breakfast then just cereal. A change. But I burnt the eggs. So I guess cereal it is.” She said carelessly while turning off the burner.
Zac was the next to come see what the smell was.
“What's burning?” He asked.
Hayley shrugged. “I burnt the eggs.”
He started laughing.
“That's ok. I think Jeremy, Taylor, and I are just gonna go out for breakfast today anyway.”
“What we aren't invited?” She asked.
“Well I thought you two had something to work out today?”
Hayley's cheeks flushed a bright red. “You heard all of that?”
“Oh you mean last night when you and josh decided to make out. Yeah I heard it all. My bunks right next to yours and you guys are really bad at sneaking.”
My eyes widened. Zac was never good at keeping secrets. “Zac...you didn't tell anyone else, did you?”
“Nope. I figured I'd let you two lovebirds figure everything out first. Well I'm gonna go wake them up now. You two have fun now. Not too much fun I hope...” He winked and then left the room.
“Sooo,” I said not knowing what else to say.
“Sooo,” She repeated awkwardly.
“Did you think about it?” I asked.
“I did.” She looked over at me just as a tear fell from one of her eyes. “And I can't josh. It's not that I don't love you, I just can't. I'm sorry.”
Then she ran out of the bus.
