Note: I need to stress that Hazbin Hotel is not for kids. Cartoons are often considered to be for kids, but Hazbin Hotel serves as proof that some cartoons are for adults. The show features topics, content and language that are more adult than material from a lot of films that are more intense than material from a lot of other adult cartoons.

Hazbin Hotel started off as a YouTube pilot in 2019. The pilot had an intriguing premise, interesting characters and amazing animation. The pilot was enough to get several people to become fans. The fans knew that they would have to wait a long time for Hazbin Hotel to become a series, but they were willing to wait. After years of waiting, Hazbin Hotel's first season has finally come out. Hazbin Hotel started off on YouTube, but it has become a series on Amazon Prime.

The series is about Charlie Morningstar, the daughter of Lucifer and Lillith. Her parents were visionaries that wanted to change things, but her father gave up his dreams and her mother disappeared. Charlie is determined to prove that the residents of Hell can redeem themselves and become good people. She has started the Hazbin Hotel, a place that sinners can go to if they want to seek redemption. At first, Charlie's only source of help comes from Vaggie, her fierce girlfriend. However, the mysterious Alastor decides to help out Charlie's hotel for his own amusement. He brings a staff with him that includes Husk, the grumpy bartender, and Niffty, the eccentric housekeeper. Charlie's first guest is Angel Dust, a flirty, immature actor that turns out to have more humanity than people expect. Adam, the world's first man, leads a team of exterminators that kill the residents of Hell. It's up to Charlie and her hotel crew to protect themselves and the rest of Hell from Adam's extermination plans.

Hazbin Hotel's a brilliant, daring series that has a fascinating plot. Charlie's feelings on redemption are very similar to feelings that I've had about the subject. The series is about exploring whether or not sinners can become better people. The series does a great job of proving that humanity and compassion can come from unlikely places. For example, Angel Dust initially appears to be a shameless flirt that just makes inappropriate jokes. However, after learning about his tragic backstory and seeing that he truly does care about his friends, Charlie's philosophies about redemption start becoming easier to understand. The possibility of redemption is explored in several different, meaningful ways.

Hazbin Hotel is a comedy that's consistently hilarious. In fact, it's one of the funniest cartoons that I've ever seen. However, there's a lot more to the show than jokes. Several meaningful, inspirational themes are explored. It's a show that moves at a fast pace.

The show has a fantastic cast of characters. The heroes, villains and side characters are all very interesting. Charlie serves as an inspirational, lovable lead hero that gives the series a great amount of heart. Her girlfriend, Vaggie, has a compelling arc and a lot of cool moments. Alastor's one of the wittiest and coolest antagonists that there's been in a long time. He's delectably sneaky and villainous, while also being oddly helpful and charming to Charlie. Sir Pentious is a hilarious, sympathetic antagonist to Alastor who has a lot of charm of his own. Lucifer is more adorable and charismatic than he has any right to be. Adam's about as immature and misguided as possible, but he's also a strong threat and a hilarious villain. The Vees are a trio of despicable but incredibly entertaining villains that constantly steal the show.

The show's voice cast is great. The characters have distinct, memorable voices. For example, Alastor's obsessed with radio, so his voice almost always sounds like it's coming out of a radio. Each episode has two songs, so the show's cast get several opportunities to prove how talented they are.

The show's animation is stunning. The show has the most creative, stylish character designs that I've ever seen from a cartoon. Each main character and side character is given a unique design. Even characters that don't have big roles are given memorable designs. For example, Zestial Morde only appears in one episode of the first season and the episode isn't focused on him. However, his vampire-like appearance and mysterious demeanor help him leave a huge impression.
