This story switches between point of view since characters add their opinions in certain situations. When that happens, I'll put the character's name on the top of the paragraph.



:Allas' point of view:
Hmmm...This kid....He masks his lonely interior by showing off a cold and rude exterior...heh..I bet I could get through to him. The red-haired boy got another blood orange from his pocket and started eating it, messily. I wondered how much oranges he had in his pocket. But, I guess thats a question for a later time. "My name is Allas." I said to him. "What might your name be?" "My name is Vincent. Vincent Drac." Said the young vampire in a proud voice. "Ah, I see....My name means "wings" in Spanish. My mother is a Spanish bat and my father is from here." I said with a quiet voice. Vincent sighed. "I don't remember asking...But, pretty cool I guess." He shrugged.

We were walking, hoping to find a nice place to rest and maybe camp out for a while. On the way, we saw an old man. He had a nice smile about him, despite his tattered clothing and missing boot. He had a bald head, and many age spots. By just first glance, you could tell he lived a life of poverty.

:Vincent's point of view:
I walked closer to the old man. He creeped me out but, Allas seemed to be happy to be in his presence for some reason! "Hello there young vampire." said the old man in a shaky voice. "Would you like some good fortune?" coughed the old man. "What good fortune could you possibly bring to me?!" I snorted. "Give me something and you shall see..." The man began laughing and looking at me, like he was waiting to see what I would do! "Ok then....You seem like you need the food." I handed him one of my many blood oranges and he smiled. He gave me a gold coin with a clover design on it that said "When All Hope Is Lost". "All hope is lost?" I asked the man in a confused voice. When I looked up, the old fart was gone. I put the coin in my pocket. "I should hold on to this! Maybe luck WILL come my way!" I shouted with a big smile. "Thats so childish of you...I do not believe luck will come your way if you keep it, but you gave food for it, so why not keep it?" Allas shrugged and looked like he was pleased by telling me that. "Well you never know!" I made sure the coin was safe. It was the first gift I have gotten from a human and the fact he knew I was a vampire and gave it to me anyways, actually confused me. I do not understand mortals and I don't plan on trying to.

:Narration:
With hope in their hearts and luck in Vincent's pocket, the duo walked on, still wondering about the mysterious old man. Was the coin really lucky and what would happen next? Only time will tell.....And reading the next chapter, of course!
