One reason why I like the 1992 film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is that, while most kids would get scared upon finding out they were lost in New York, Kevin saw it differently. He viewed it as an adventure of sorts when he found out he was in the Big Apple instead of Miami, Florida (where his family was) — and milked it for all it was worth.
(The nickname of “The Big Apple” is a great one for New York, along with “The City that Never Sleeps.” And that definitely shows in the taglines of “America’s Smallest Hero Takes a Giant Bite Out of The Big Apple” and “He’s Up Past His Bedtime in The City that Never Sleeps.”)
And Macaulay definitely did an awesome job bringing Kevin to life the way he did — especially during the scene when, after hearing his dad yelling to him from the Plaza Hotel, Kevin quickly turns and heads back to the hotel.
Mostly, I like it because of this line: “Kevin! You spent $967 on room service?”
The reason why Kevin spent $967 on room service was because he ate all that ice cream. It sure was very funny, as well as awesome, too. :)
