Horror Movies Article: Will we ever get a good slasher sequel?

As an avid fan of horror films, Halloween is definitely one of the highlights of my entire year. However, I can’t hide my disappointment at the fact that – despite Hollywood’s efforts – there has never been a modern slasher remake, sequel, or prequel that has ever matched up to the original film… and it seems I’m not the only one!

A survey carried out by Eye Candy Lenses revealed that the majority of avid horror films fans would be delighted to see some of the most iconic original slasher films brought back to life. However, whilst it came as no surprise that horror fans have been longing for a slasher sequel involving the likes of Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface… the most popular came as a shock…

Whilst Freddy and his nightmares coming an extremely close second, the top spot was stolen by psychological nutjob, Hannibal Lector. Silence of the Lambs has long been hailed as not only one of the most celebrated and iconic horror films, but also one of the best films of all time! Would a remake, or even a sequel, ever live up to the insane genius created by Anthony Hopkins?

If we’re lucky, a huge Hollywood film studio will catch onto this article and immediately become inspired to recreate all of these iconic slashers… but for the moment, re-watching the familiar classics in the build-up to Halloween may have to do…

Don’t give up too much hope yet though! It’s rumoured that 2017 will be welcoming the release of ‘Death House,’ which is also deemed to be The Expendables of the horror world – with a script originally drafted by the late Gunnar Hansen, better known to horror fans as Leatherface. The premise of the film brings together some of the most dastardly horror villains in history, producing an action-packed gorefest that horror fans have only dreamed of for years…

hatelarxene Have you ever seen Scream 2? A lot of people actually like it just as much, if not more, than Scream. I love it, but not as much as the original. It's close, though.

SentinelPrime89 Scream 2 and 4, some Friday the 13th sequels in my opinion are way better than the original, The Silence Of The Lambs, Halloween IV is actually tied with the original as my favorite.

slcaldecott Scream is actually my favourite horror movie of all time. I think all of the Scream films are brilliant - even Scream 3 as an initial part of the franchise... The Silence of the Lambs is definitely the best of any of the Hannibal films. I feel there's been too many Texas Chainsaw Massacre films, and they've been truly ruined and aren't remotely scary anymore.
