Still going please comment and tell me what you think and if I should continue with this story I have several ideas but need your input.
Chapter 5
Two months have passed by since House and Cuddy learned they were going to have twins.
“How are you doing mommy?”
“Fine, I just feel really weak and tired.”
“You’re carrying two people inside of you weakness is to be expected so is being tired you need to lie down and get some rest.”
“Okay, I will. Will you lay down with me?”
“Of course.”
Cuddy woke up the next morning and got ready for work. She walked into PPTH and walked straight to her office and started reading over some paperwork. She left her office to answer a page and as she left she collapsed close to the nurses’ station.
“Dr. Cuddy!”
A nurse rushed to her side and called for help Cuddy was sent to ICU. She had banged her head on a counter and was steadily going into kidney and liver failure. Meanwhile House was at Cuddy’s place getting ready for work. He arrived and Foreman went up to him.
“New case?”
“House its Cuddy, she’s in the ICU.”
“What happened!?”
“She’s in almost complete kidney and liver failure and also banged her head pretty good when she collapsed this morning.”
“Why are her kidney’s and liver failing?”
“I don’t know the team is on it as we speak.”
“She mentioned she was weak last night and I told her that she needed to rest but I had no idea she was this bad what the hell is wrong with her? I’m going to see her.”
“House she’s in a coma.”
“A coma?”
“When she hit her head it knocked her out pretty good… she doesn’t have very long.”
“We have to find out what’s wrong with her then.”
House stumbled up to ICU with a million thoughts going through his head. Will she survive? How are the babies? What is wrong with her? Will I be able to save her? All these questions running through his head at full speed he felt completely helpless.
“What room is Lisa Cu… Lisa House in?”
“She’s in ICU 6 Dr. House.”
“Thanks, what’s wrong with her?”
“We don’t know.” The nurse replied.
He appeared at her window and saw her hooked up to a ventilator and had her head wrapped up she didn’t look good her skin was yellow with jaundice as a result of liver failure. Tears started to stream down Houses face. What if I can’t fix her he thought?
No. Failure was not an option. He would save his wife if it was the last thing he did she would not die.
“Heeey House I just heard the news how is she doing” Wilson asked.
“It’s not looking good her kidney’s and liver are failing, I’m helpless here Wilson. I don’t know how to fix my wife or even what to fix.”
“Don’t worry the team will figure it out. Lisa will be smiling back at you in no time.”
“I hope you’re right Wilson.”
House went back down to his office and started jotting stuff down on the whiteboard.
“Okay we have 39 year old female pregnant, kidney failure, liver failure, and head trauma. Discuss.”
“House you can’t work your own wife’s case.” Foreman said.
“Watch me! We will figure out what is wrong with Lisa and we will do it quickly!”
“House I can’t let you do this.”
“You have no power over me right now Foreman. Cuddy is in the hospital and can’t back you up which means you are working under me and I am working this case.”
“Foreman’s right House you should be up there with your wife.”
“No one asked for your input on this Taub.”
“Not to go down an old path but it could be Lupus.” Thirteen said.
“Thank you someone who listens!!”
He wrote Lupus down on the board and circled it.
“Draw blood and test for Lupus any other suggestions?”
Realizing defeat Foreman and Taub followed Thirteen to run the tests. House remained in his office going over the symptoms repeatedly.
After running the tests and ruling out Lupus Thirteen suggests gestational diabetes.
“Gestational diabetes could account for the elevated blood sugar, weakness, and kidney failure” suggested Thirteen.
“Good idea but what about the liver failure?”
“Another condition. Could be hepatitis or cirrhosis of the liver which would explain her difficulty to conceive.”
“Cuddy does not have hepatitis and she does not drink so it is no cirrhosis. Good suggestions though.”
“Run the tests for diabetes and see what her A1C is and what her blood sugars are running.”
The team got right on it. House continued to stare at the symptoms on the board.
“What the hell is wrong with you Lisa?”
“We ran the test for diabetes her sugars are normal and her A1C is a 6 perfect. She tested negative for diabetes” Taub replied.
“I also tested for cirrhosis of the liver and hepatitis she was negative for them as well.”
“Thank you queen of the obvious!”
“It could be no…it’s impossible.”
“What?”
“There is a rare pregnancy disorder that often occurs in older women who are pregnant but the possibility of Cuddy having it slim to none.”
“Go on.”
“There is a chemical in the placenta called theorimoxine that could be attacking the other organs through the blood stream. The condition is called Theorimytosis and is extremely rare but it would explain all the symptoms weakness kidney and liver failure elevated blood sugar… it’s a nasty disease but can be treated with antibiotics.” Explained Thirteen.
“Good start her on that and see what happens can there be negative side effects of the antibiotics?”
“If it is Theorimytosis then the antibiotics should work if not then her body will simply flush them out and there will be no side effects.”
“We have a winner do the treatment.”
“Wait what about the babies? Will they be affected?”
“No the babies are fine but we will have to do an emergency c- section and the treatment will not harm them but…”
“At this point buts are not allowed.”
“As a result of the disease she will not be able to conceive again and the placenta will have to be removed from her body.”
“She will live though correct?”
“Yes.”
“Do the treatment if she wants more kids we can use a surrogate mother or adopt.”
The team left to do the treatment. Chase then performed a c-section and the babies were taken to the nursery. After looking at his kids House went up to see his wife along with the team. He wanted to be there when she woke up. Thirteen administered the antibiotics to treat the disease and within an hour Cuddy regained consciousness.
“Where am I?” she looked up at House the ventilator and tubing had been removed.
“Lisa you are in the hospital you have been very sick you collapsed here at work.”
“The babies how are the babies?” she asked frightened that there might be something wrong with them.
“They are fine and you are recovering well. You had a rare disease that forced an emergency c-section and there is some bad news but everything will be alright.”
“What’s the bad news?”
“I’m sorry baby but you won’t be able to carry anymore kids to term.”
“What?” she said devastated.
“Look if you have another baby the same thing could happen and you could die. If you want more kids we can adopt or use a surrogate. Don’t worry about that worry about your current health and our kids. Would you like to see them?”
“Of course can I?”
“Yes the dialysis and the antibiotic treatment were successful we can take you down to the nursery so you can see them. Lisa they are more beautiful than you can imagine. Abbie looks just like you with her beautiful brown hair and blue eyes and Morgan well I will say is his father’s son.”
“I want to see them take me to them.”
House grabbed a wheelchair and his cane and wheeled Lisa down to the nursery. A nurse let them in and she wheeled Lisa over to where it said Abigail Nicole House 6 lbs 9 ounces and in the bed next to her it said Gregory Morgan House 7 lbs 3 ounces. House put Morgan in Lisa’s arms and she just bust down crying tears of joy at the sight of her newborn son. House brought Abbie over so Lisa could hold her as well she cradled each baby in each arm and just cried tears of joy.
“Greg they’re perfect they are so beautiful. Morgan looks just like you. I’m so happy I don’t know what to do. I’m well and have the three most important people in the world to me here with me I could just breakdown right now.”
“You look so beautiful holding our babies. This image will be imprinted in my mind forever.”
“Greg thank you for saving my life and giving me the best presents anyone could ever get.”
“Well actually you should thank Thirteen she’s the one who figured out you had the rare disease I just ordered the treatment.”
“Well then I will thank her as well.”
“This is all perfect nothing can go wrong.

1.This is my favourite huddy moment of all time , “ you’re afraid to be happy , why do you care if I’m happy???” cuddy’s face just shows how much she is in love with house she can’t even look him in the eye “ this is the only me you get”.
