Yes.. I know... very very painful... My school! Not the previous chapter! Aye! XDDDD
No, seriously, I couldn't just, throw them in parenting, it's not going to be easy for them... You know I'm not an easy girl (I'M TALKING BOUT WRITING!! *rolls eyes* XDDD)
I want them to explore their personalities a bit, you know, there's so much they think they know about each other, but just maybe, that's not how it is.
So...
I hope you'll enjoy their whole 'journey' just like I'm enjoying writing it...
oh, and thank you for the reviews!
Love you!
Chapter 13: No matter what?
“Oh, sweetie” Hugh approached Lisa's hospital bed as she stretched her arms to him.
He sat down beside her, and she hugged him tight. So tight Hugh almost couldn't breathe.
Then, she started crying.
“Shhh... it's going to be ok” Hugh tried to sooth her, but all she did is cry some more.
He had no idea how he'd let himself get in this state. He was so preoccupied by himself and his needs that he didn't realize something weird had been going on with Lisa. When he thought about it now, it all made sense.
Her 'I think I ate something bad' after throwing up for an hour, her being late for the shootings, her little bitchy moments....
It all made sense... But he wasn't quite sure when it all started. How long had she been pregnant?
As Lisa's cries subsided, and she gently pulled away, just so her puffy eyes could meet his clear, full with fear, ones, she spoke
“I should have told you... I am so sorry” more tears rolled down her cheeks.
She had just lost her baby and all she wanted was to tell him she was sorry? That was somehow, so wrong.
He should be the one apologizing.
When he thought about it, she had been constantly trying to say something to him, but they always ended up doing something else, like watching a movie... or playing tennis.
Oh. God.
Playing tennis was what brought her in the hospital at the first place... If he hadn't been insisting on it, that little life maybe could have made it.
“I am so sorry” he echoed her words, making them his own. Lisa shook her head, frowning.
“Why should you be sorry?” she paused “I'm the one who's been hiding the pregnancy for month and a half, been pregnant for two... I should have told you” she shook her head again.
Two months? So, just at the time they'd gotten married.
Two months... That seemed like such a long time...
“No, Lisa... I was an idiot... I was thinking about me more than I was about you...” Hugh's eyes filled with tears, something that happened every ... twenty years.
He was desperate. He was angry with himself. He was feeling too bad about putting Lisa second.
He had always been doing just that. Making himself the number one priority. Ever since Jo died, it had been all about him.
Even now, it was all about him. He was thinking what a douche bag he'd been, in stead of focusing on Lisa and how she must have felt.
“It's not your fault... I was selfish... Look what happened cause I wouldn't listen” Hugh was still managing to keep those drops of clear tears in his eyes.
“I wanted it so much … I didn't know how you'd react” Lisa cried again, her head falling on Hugh's shoulder, sobbing with every move she made.
And, then, something hit Hugh.
Lisa had never told him she wanted a kid... Let alone one with him.
And even when she should have been thinking about that little baby, she was faced with the problem of how he'd have reacted.
This was all just so wrong.
“You wanted the baby? Why didn't you tell me that before?” Hugh ran his hand through her hair.
She scoffed through the tears.
“I'm forty five Hugh... Never in my rightest mind have I though that I'd get pregnant...” she paused, wiping some of her tears away “... and then I did... and I was thrilled, even though I knew there was a possibility of something like this happening... And I didn't tell you I wanted kids, cause I didn't want you to go through pain when something like this was on the cards”
Hugh shook his head a bit... she was thinking about him, of course.
She proved once again what a wonderful person she was.
“Don't ever...” he made her look at him from her position “... think about not telling me things like those. We're married. It's not about how I would feel, it's about how we both feel. And if you want kids...” he smiled softly “we'll have kids..”
She smiled at him weakly, of course it was hard for her to process those words.
“No matter what?” she asked, their 'sentence' drenched with multiple hidden meanings
“No matter what” he replied, kissing her softly.
Oh, and I have a big surprise coming in chapter 16...
Something a great number of you asked me about and I avoided it ;) I'll let you think about what it could be (:C
