Hugh got really angry at Lilly’s dumb excuse as why she couldn’t come over to babysit Eileen, but didn’t want to scream in front of his daughter, so he decided to tell Lilly that they would talk later and hang up the phone. Hugh sighed as Eileen looked at him curiously. ‘Dada pway?’ Hugh’s lips curled up a little at her innocent question. ‘Sorry baby, daddy doesn’t have time to play with you anymore today…’, Hugh said softly and saw how Eileen’s expression changed from happy to sadly pouting.
He picked her up in his arms and she hugged him close immediately wrapping herself as much around him as she could as she thought he was going to leave soon. ‘Ooo baby, we really need to get you changed.’, Hugh said as he smelled his daughters diaper and walked over to her room.
While changing Eileen’s diaper Hugh thought about the situation, he wanted to go tell Lisa Lilly wasn’t going to come babysit, but he couldn’t just crush her… He knew how much she had looked forward to going to the Emmy’s, especially going to the Emmy’s with him, but now that seemed impossible as they couldn’t take Eileen…, or could they? Hugh smirked as he pictured all the comments they would get and suddenly he wanted nothing more than to take Eileen and Lisa with him to the Emmy’s…
Eileen was cooing and playing with her favorite stuffed animal, a little brown bear, while Hugh put the new diaper on. ‘So baby, what do you say we go look in your closet for some very pretty dress for you to wear?’, Hugh asked his daughter who didn’t understand him completely but was very happy with all the attention she was getting from her father today. Hugh picked her up and walked over to her closet. ‘There you go!’, Hugh said as he picked a little blue dress out of her closet, ‘A very pretty blue dress…’ ‘Pwetty!’ Hugh smiled and dressed Eileen, who giggled all the time.
‘So now we just have to put this little bow in your hair and you’re ready to go to the Emmy’s.’ When she was ready Hugh smiled, ‘You look beautiful, just like mommy.’ ‘Mommy?’, Eileen asked suddenly remembering her mother and wanting to go to her.
‘Liz?’, Hugh walked into Lisa’s bedroom with Eileen in his arms, who was holding her bear. ‘Almost finished!’, she screamed from the bathroom where she adding the finishing touch to her hair. ‘Is Lilly here yet?’, she asked as she walked into the bedroom where Hugh and Eileen where sitting on the bed. Hugh’s eyes immediately widened at her beauty and she smiled at his reaction.
‘Uhm..’, Hugh started, but Lisa interrupted him as she saw Eileen all dressed up. ‘Why is she all dressed up? O god, don’t tell me Lilly isn’t coming?!’ ‘I’m sorry Liz, I called her but she gave me some lame excuse as why she couldn’t come over… but I know how much you want to go, so I thought we could just take Eileen with us.’
Lisa’s emotions conflicted as she was angry, confused, touched and panicky all at once. ‘How… we can’t just take her! I mean… not that I don’t want to, I’d love to, but… no one has ever brought their kids and she doesn’t have a ticket and…’ ‘So we’ll just break a few more rules. You’re not alone this time, I’m here to take the the blame, so you can just enjoy it…’ Lisa nodded as Hugh walked to her hugged her and kissed her.
'I love you Liz, I don’t want to hide anymore…’ At that she smiled, ‘I love you too.’ ‘Well then let’s go, I already made a bag with Eileen’s stuff and her seat is installed in my car…’, he quickly added before she had the chance to ask, instead she just nodded and smiled as for the first time they would go to a public event as a family…
