"Ouch! Mom you burned me!" "I'm sorry dear. I'll be more careful with the curling." So here I am, sitting in front of my dresser and mirror as my mom curls my dark blue hair. "So Dawn," my mom starts. "Why did you want me to curl your hair for you anyway, Dawn?" Hmmm... "Well...I...uh...ummmm....you see....I was..." I stumble on my own words. How am I going to tell my mom I have a date with Paul tonight? It's harder than you think! "Mom, Paul asked me to go to the December Dance tonight and I want to look great!" I feel my mom stop curling my hair. "Dawn dear," she starts. "I'm so glad you're finally dating, but, I'm sure Paul will like you either way! He likes on the inside right? All the boys are suposed to like girls because of their personality." she tells me. "Yeah, but, Paul is pretty stoic. I just want him to feel happy." I pout. "Even though he's always angry at something." Mom looks at me. "Are you alright dear?" I blink. "Yeah mom! I'm fine!" Wow. I have got to control my mood swings.

As my mom is chopping celery for her usual vegetable stew, I walk down the tan staircase with my pink heels clicking the floor. CLICK! CLICK! CLICK! CLICK! "Hm?" My mom stares at me. She gapes so wide that she could've touched the chopped celery in her hands! "So," I twirl in a circle. "What do you think?" Mom sets the celery choppings in a bowl. "My, my, my!" She runs towards me and hugs me. "You look like a younger version of me!" "Thanks?" I kinda say and ask.

After 10 minutes, I look at my pink dress and heels and think that Paul won't pick me up. Untill...DING! DONG! I stand up from the couch so quickly that my curly haired ponytail jumps. "I'll get it." My blue-haired mom opens the white-colored door and it reveals my boyfriend, Paul. "Why hello Paul." Mom says to him. "Good evening." Paul bows to my mom. What was that all about? I walk towards Paul and my mom. "Let's go." he says. "Wait!" my mom calls. "Paul, bring Dawn home by ten p.m. Okay?" "Yes ma'am."
