Wayne Sermon, Lead Guitar

Wayne can SHRED. It may be blasphemous to detract from this biography by going beyond this undeniable fact. Fact: his gut-wrenching, pants-wetting solos have been known to move audience members to tears.

Wayne has been the lead guitarist for Imagine Dragons since 2009, and is so far the only lead guitarist the band has ever had.

Lead singer Dan, a Las Vegas native, met guitarist Wayne in 2008 in Utah, where Dan was attending school and Wayne was living after graduating from Berklee School of Music. After going through various lineups, the band was established in Las Vegas with Dan and Wayne joining Ben McKee, Andrew Tolman, and Brittany Tolman.

The band lived together in Nevada whilst they created and released their first three EP's.

It’s the stuff of dreams, Imagine Dragon’s chart-soaring 2012 LP Night Visions. Based largely on the subconscious nonsense that comes during deep sleep, the album—and singles “It’s Time” and “Radioactive,” both of which reached the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list—struck a chord nationally and launched the Las Vegas-based band into stardom.

We wanted to chat with these skyrocketing stars, but not in the typical fashion. You know those silly questions that some interviewers sneak in at the end of an interview with a band? Well, Beside the Question is a blog series at CityWeekly.net...

I saw Imagine Dragons over three years ago at the Velour, a dimly lit and intimate music hovel in downtown Provo. That stage was small, the building had a 250 person capacity and the band was one that seemed to still be finding its direction. That was not the same band I saw tonight playing for a crowd of over 8,000 in a full-blown rock show at the UCCU Events Center.

I’m not talking about the changes they’ve made to their lineup. The Imagine Dragons of today are a fully realized indie rock ensemble whose fan base has grown exponentially since...

Yahoo!, the mammoth online portal, is in the concert biz now, with a new tour that played the Pageant on Wednesday night.
Yahoo! On the Road is hitting 27 cities; the twist is that each city gets a different headliner. John Legend, Kendrick Lamar, Fall Out Boy, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and the Lumineers are among the headliners in various cities. Imagine Dragons and Owl City performed at the St. Louis stop.

Imagine Dragons sold out the Pageant in March; Owl City also played the Pageant in March in a separate show, making the Yahoo! On the Road selections for St. Louis look a little unfair....

In its four-hear history, MTV's Musical March Madness tournament has seen no shortage of Cinderella stories — Owl City's unlikely ride to the Sweet 16 in 2010, Disturbed's dream run to the Final Four in '11, F---ed Up's shocking upsets of Mumford & Sons and Radiohead last year — but eventually, the clock strikes midnight, the carriage transforms back into a pumpkin and the glass slipper shatters.

In other words, they've each come up short in their quest for the championship. But with the 2013 MMM tournament set to tip off Monday, March 18, there's a whole new group of upset-minded upstarts...

ONLY a handful of indie bands from the United States show promise in going mainstream and only the best remain relevant and popular.
Imagine Dragons, an indie rock band from Nevada, sets out to be different by incorporating a unique sound in its identity. This is proven by its chart-topping hits including It’s Time and Radioactive. The former is featured in the trailer for Perks Of Being A Wallflower, while the latter is part of the soundtrack for the Stephanie Meyer movie The Host.
The band is also known for its strong beats...
