It was raining outside. I didn’t want people staring at me, walking in the rain as if it wasn’t raining a tall. I took a step inside the diner and saw humans. Their blood was music to my ears. I sniffed the air and I smelt vampire. I looked at the table and I saw her.
She was so small. Her hair was short and spiky. She walked gracefully as she came towards me. She was….beautiful. “You’ve kept me waiting for a long time,” she said.
I dipped my head and said, “I’m sorry ma’am.” She held her hand out for me to take and I stared at it for two seconds and I took it. A force I never had felt before went through my body in that moment. The first time I touched her. I knew I loved her but I didn’t know if I loved her at the same time. It was all so confusing to me at that moment.
Her emotions told me she was relieved. They also told me something else. Something I hadn’t figured out at that time. I had felt it before, around humans and Peter and Charlotte. But never had I ever felt this coming from another vampire towards me.
“May we take a walk?” She asked me. Interrupting my thoughts.
“It’s raining,” I pointed out to her.
“Not anymore,” she said to me. I still heard the rain on the roof but it was slow. Then it was gone. Just a small drizzle.
“Sure,” I said to her. Already she was dragging me out of the diner.
I looked at Alice. Her little body so close to mine. She looked so beautiful today. She looked beautiful everyday of course, but today was different. Today we were united as one. I lifted Alice’s veil and I bent my head down and kissed her on the lips so carefully and lovingly. The memory of the first time I ever met her flashed through my mind so quickly in the small moment.
