Hello my mane is Demetria Devonne Lovato but for now you can call me Demi. I have almost everything life has to offer. I’m rich, a princess, beauty, clothes etc. So what maybe be missing from my perfect life? Love. The love of my life died in a car accident on what was supposed to be our weeding day. It was an arranged marriage but that didn’t mean I didn’t love him. I’m 19 now and will be going on to 20 soon. My mom has been pressuring me to marry so that I can become queen but after Cody, I just couldn’t bring myself to it. My best friend Selena has been there for me and we are so close we practically call each other sisters. When my life feels like a dump she’s the only one that I could actually count on to cheer me up. Today I was supposed to meet my mom in the ballroom to meet my soon to be husband. But that does not exactly mean I’m going. I looked over at my watch which was a birthday present from Cody, and shot out of bed when I noticed the time. I had to get out of here now if I didn’t want to be married to whomever that my mom set up to marry me. No one would ever replace Cody. I slipped on a printed hood top and jeans that reached my knees and climbed out of the window. I hid behind a bush because I heard someone coming and of course it was the person my mom was forcing me to marry. He had curly brown hair and was fair in skin tone. But I promised myself that I would not love any other like I did Cody. It was going to be hard to escape but somehow I would do it. After they left, I jumped and grabbed on to a branch and went higher up in the tree. There was no way they would find me. I sat on a steady branch and took out my phone and began to text Selena.
“Hey”
“Demi, you can’t keep this up”
“I can and I will, no one can replace Cody”
“I know, he was also my brother” That‘s how I met Selena. First we didn’t like each other and Selena thought I was just one of those stuck up. But we grew close and here we are now.
“I miss him”
“He would want you to move on”
“He was the love of my life and nothing can change that”
I closed my phone and tears started sliding down my face. It was so hard to believe he was gone. I knew I had to move on but I didn’t want to. It was too hard. Just too hard letting go. I heard people calling my name so I hid among the leaves
. “Princess Demetria!!!!”
I hated when people called me that. It was like I wasn’t like anyone else. My mom’s servants spread across the lawn looking everywhere that came to their mind. He was also there but instead of looking he was gazing off into space. Great, my mom is making me marry a mad man. But then his eyes found mine and then right there I knew I was caught. I took off, swinging from tree to tree like an agile monkey. It was easy because the branches made a kind of a walkway and they couldn’t keep up. I got to the gate and quickly climbed over.
“Princess Demetria, get back here right now”
I ignored that completely and I turned around to make my escape. I thought I was going to get away. Boy was I wrong.
