"You were never strong. You'll make people just run over you. You can't do this, your weak"
I tried pulling her up to prove her wrong but I couldn't. She was right and because of that she was going to die right in front of me; and I was unable to do a thing.
But then I felt a body next to me and a hand flew on top of mine and helped me to bring Selena up. Cody. I didn't know how much he heard but by the looks he gave both Selena and I told me that he heard everything. He walked off leaving us like nothing had happened and both of us followed. What Cody did didn't replace the feeling I had inside my heart. I was useless.

Maybe that was the reason why I was so eager to join the gang and to prove to others that maybe I wasn't as down trodden as they thought I would be. That I could stand on my own two feet for at least one minute of my life. Or maybe it was just for comfort because I knew that after my big sister had left for college on a scholarship for this year that I thought I would have no one excluding Nick. But I had totally wrecked that and I doubted that he would still be there on the side lines and even if he was, I didn't want that.


This just doesn't feel right. Freeing a prisoner was all they could come up with?! I looked down at my black clothes and a retching feeling started rising from the pit of my stomach.

"Marcus Hale! Cell number fifty-seven, that's where we'll find him," Cody said, looking straight at me as if he knew how disgusted I was, "Demi, be our back-up. If you hear someone coming or detect any sort of danger, send me a miss call."

"Ok, Cody," I said. I watched them ago. They were so perfect at this. Their feet moved as if they were flying and their eyes were everywhere, scrutinizing the surroundings. Soon, all of them were out of sight.

I took my cell phone out of my pocket, getting ready to press the call button as soon as I heard something. I was able to check all my messages and even take random pictures of myself which came our extremely blur due to the dim light.

It was ten minutes later when my instincts told me something was imminent. There was not a single sound but.......vibrations. I've never been the sharpest person around but playing around with instruments and their strings, I can assess any sort of vibration or note without even having to try.

"Robert, is Smith of shift today?" I heard a voice and my finger instantly pressed against the button it had been resting on. I looked down to see it was the wrong button and fixed my mistake.

"No, Joe, well, man, I'm tired. Have fun on duty today," I guessed it was the Robert guy.

My hand shook lightly and I looked down to see a message from Cody:
'Get out! There's a door if you go a little forward, to the right.'

I was careful with my steps and slowly walked ahead, trying to match the gang's ability to move around without being noticed. Well actually, that Joe guy seemed to have a sensitive sense of hearing.

I heard someone's swift thudding footsteps and jumped into the nearest closet. Luckily, it was big enough for me to squeeze in, not that my frame is very big. "Those damned mice find exciting places to hide," it was Joe. I had to stifle a chuckle at the random remark.

"And mice don't laugh," I was totally vulnerable to the handsome young man who had spoken.

"Can you ignore me like one of those innocent mice," I whispered.

"I don't ignore them, I trap them," Joe leaned forward and his hot breath on my ear made my skin trickle.
