I started this story for brysis, but with her permission I am sharing it with all of you. It's NM from Jake's POV, hope you enjoy it...and thank you baby.
Chapter 1
"Jacob!" My father's voice echoed into my room, which made me groan loudly and throw a pillow over my head in attempt to ignore him and go back to sleep. "Jacob, I'm not yelling again!"
I grumbled a few choice words under my breath and thought about going back to sleep until I heard the sound of his wheelchair coming down the hall. I knew that if he came into my room to find me and found me in bed, that I would end up doing every disgusting job that he could think of for a week.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah I'm up." I said as I threw my legs over the edge of the bed, the cold floor giving me goosebumps from my head to my toes.
"We have to go to town, Charlie invited us over for Bella's Birthday dinner." He said as he winked at me before he wheeled away.
I know he was probably smiling in the front room as he listened to me getting ready, my pace going from slow as a turtle to moving so fast that I forgot to put a sock on my left foot...which I caught as I put on my shoe.
I'm not sure why, but since the first day I saw Bella Swan I was infatuated by her. She was the daughter of my Dad's best friend Charlie Swan who was also the police chief for Forks. The first time I met her was when my Father and I went up to Forks to surprise Bella with her birthday present.
Her dark brown hair was blowing in the gentle breeze, her deep brown eyes the color of coco. She had the sweetest smile, and when she found out that the truck was hers she just about fainted. Bella's parents were divorced, her mother had taken her to Arizona or Florida or something while her dad Charlie had stayed her in northern Washington. She would come visit him for a few weeks a summer when she was younger, and I think her dad didn't know what to do with her, so he would bring her with him down to LaPush to play with my sisters and me. We all made fun of her when she would come visit because she was such a city girl, she didn't enjoy getting dirty or playing with bugs which was something we all enjoyed. She was miserable the last few times, so much that she stopped coming up for the summer, asking Charlie to meet her somewhere in California for a few weeks.
That all changed when Bella's mom remarried, her new husband was some minor league baseball player who traveled a lot. I guess her mom wanted to go with him so Bella moved back up here with her dad..which was good for me.
Since the day my dad and I brought the old, beaten truck up to her I haven't stopped thinking about her. She was almost 2 years older then I was but I didn't think that meant she was out of my league.
"Jacob!" My father yelled impatiently, snapping me out of my thoughts. "I'm getting older just waiting for you!"
"Yeah, yeah...you're ancient!" I said as I walked into the room to find him waiting with his Jacket on.
"Let's go, Charlie's waiting for us. He's making something for her, even though her birthday isn't until tomorrow."
"Are you more excited for dinner, or to watch the game on Charlie's new television?" I teased.
"Ehhh it's a tie." He said, a devious little smile on his face.
"Nice." I said as I pushed him out to the car, helping him in before folding the chair and climbing into the driver seat.
The ride up to Forks was only about 15 minutes and in that short time he managed to grill me about classes, my friends and any girls that I found interesting. When I told him that none of the girls were 'my type' he asked if Bella was? When I didn't answer it started a whole new teasing session that lasted until we pulled into the driveway.
"Dad, please don't say anything to Charlie." I asked, looking at my hands.
"Don't say anything about what?" He teased.
"About...oh never mind. I'm sure he already knows about my crush, you two tell each other everything."
"Not that, I haven't said anything." He said as he grinned. "I'll let you handle that all by yourself."
"Thanks." I said as I climbed out, grabbing his chair out of the trunk. I helped him up to the house and knocked softly my heart pounding against my chest until Bella answered the door a friendly smile on her face which made me grin like an idiot...great.
