“This is it, girls. We win this and it will be our best season in ten years. I’m proud of each and everyone you. You’ve come so far since we started the season. Just do your best and have fun out there today, okay?”
The room is filled with hollers and cheers and a chorus of yes, coach. Taking a deep breath, you try your best to calm yourself down. You know that practically everybody on the team, including the coach, are counting on you to secure the victory - which is exactly why you’re nervous.
There’s a knock on the door to the locker room and everyone’s head snap towards it automatically. It creaks open and your boyfriend peaks his head inside. Seeing all the attention he is getting, he innocently.
“Hey. Uh, coach? Would you mind me stealing Y/N away for a minute?” Justin asks, politely smiling at your classmates’ surprised faces.
The coach raises her eyebrows, looking at Justin skeptically. Justin bites his bottom lip and stuffs his hands into the pockets of his jeans, obviously not feeling too confident anymore.
She clears her throat, before breaking into a smile. “Well, what kind of person would I be if I denied Justin Bieber a minute with his girlfriend, huh?”
Justin chuckles uneasily and moves his hazel orbs to meet yours. He reaches his hand out and you jump up from the bench, intertwining your fingers with his calloused ones. You vaguely hear a few of the girls awe silently and you can’t contain your smile.
The door slips closed behind you and Justin pulls you closer. Biting your bottom lip, you glance up at him from under your eyelashes.
“You’re nervous, aren’t you?”
It’s such an easy and simple question, but it’s still hard to answer. With a deep sigh, you nod your head slowly. You’re supposed to be the team captain, the best and toughest player - so it’s not the easiest thing to admit to being nervous.
Justin sighs too and presses a light kiss to your forehead. His thumb absentmindedly caresses your knuckles and he looks down to meet your gaze again.
“You don’t have to, you know? You’re an amazing player, Y/N. I know a lot of people are counting on you but if you just concentrate on doing your absolute best, then you’ll do great. You always do, babe. I promise you. Besides, if you win - I’ll take you out on a celebratory date.”
You giggle, “Well, I can’t say no to that, can I?” Justin shrugs innocently, looking down at you with a small, smug grin. “Thank you, Justin. This really helped. And I’ll take you up on that date. Okay?”
“Good. Now, go ahead and show the other team how good you are. And your coach kinda scares me, so please get out there now before she comes after me.” The two of you laugh at his extremely poor attempt to lighten the mood. “Good luck, beautiful.”
You do just that - follow Justin’s encouraging words. And it helps too. When the judge finally stops the game, your team has won by 4 points. The girls throw themselves at you, cheering along with the rest of the school.
“You did it, Y/N. We won! We won!”
You’re only able to nod, still too dazed from realizing that you actually won. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see Justin jogging towards you and the rest of your team. Slowly, you weave your way through the crowd.
He lets out a small oof as you jump into his arms, but you’re too happy and hyped to care at the moment. Justin spins you around, placing small butterfly kisses all over your face. You’re a giggling mess at the end of it, but it feels so good.
“You did it, babe! I told you you’d do good. Congratulations!” he exclaims and leans down to press his lips against your own.
