After months and months of waiting, Kelly’s fifth album, Stronger is finally out! With this album, Kelly seems to change her sound quite a bit from All I Ever Wanted. Stronger is less pop-y, and focuses more on Kelly’s strong vocals. I’d definitely say that Stronger stands alone, but if I had to compare it to something, I’d say it’s like a much better Breakaway. Songs with meaning and not too much auto-tune, so that Kelly’s amazing vocals are a standout.

Anyways, on to the tracks.

Mr. Know It All-Okay. Not one of my favorites. It’s a decent song, with good vocals, and a catchy tune. An okay lead single, but I probably would have picked something different. Anyways, a solid opener for the album, 2.5/5

What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)-Great self-empowerment/feel better song with an explosive chorus. Catchy, with great beats. I could totally imagine working out or dancing to this song. I think this could be a good single. 4.5/5

Dark Side-A favorite of mine. Very meaningful, soulful song. Kelly sounds great on this one. Great tune and fast chorus. A highlight of the album. 5/5

Honestly-A slower, mid-tempo song that shows off Kelly’s strong voice. Lots of emotion and fantastic lyrics. 4.5/5

You Love Me-Catchy, great tune. Not a standout vocal-wise, but a really great song, 4/5

Einstein-A more “fun” sort of song. Kelly pokes fun at an ex with lyrics like, “I may not be Einstein but I know dumb plus dumb equals you”. Catchy, slightly repetitive, but a little cheesier than the other songs on the album. Still a good listen, 3.75/5

Standing In Front of You-Slower. Good song, okay vocals. Kind of boring at first but the chorus gets better. Good song but not a huge standout, 3/5

I Forgive You-A fast paced song about forgiving an ex for past mistakes in the relationship. An explosive chorus with excellent vocals. As I saw in another review, it could possible be a sequel to “Since U Been Gone”. Another standout, 5/5

Hello-A catchy, positive sounding song, that is, surprisingly, about loneliness. Another great song. 4/5

The War Is Over-Another catchy relationship sort of song. Good, but not a standout. 3.5/5

Let Me Down-Fast paced, fun, and with great lyrics. I could imagine this playing in a club. A definite standout, I think this has single potential as well. A highlight-5/5

You Can’t Win-Relatable, meaningful lyrics, “If you smile, you must be ignorant, if you don’t, what’s your problem? If you’re down, so ungrateful, if you’re happy, why so selfish?”. A lot of people can probably relate to this song. Not the best tune-wise but the lyrics are fantastic, 3.75/5

Breaking Your Own Heart-A slower ballad. Good instrumentals and vocals. Almost country-sounding, but not quite. Another song where the chorus is the best part. 3.75/5

Don’t You Wanna Stay-Jason Aldean featuring Kelly Clarkson-A country sounding duet. Kelly’s vocals are excellent, but I’m not the biggest country fan, so I’ll refrain from rating this song.

Alone-Faster paced song that explodes into a chorus. A meaningful relationship song. I started liking this song a lot more after listening to it a few times, 3.75/5

Don’t Be a Girl About It-Great song. Faster paced, great chorus. Kind of funny as Kelly pokes fun at another guy. Another highlight, 4.5/5

The Sun Will Rise featuring Kara DioGuardi- Okay. Good vocals, and Kara and Kelly’s voices go well together, 3/5

Why Don’t You Try-This song is probably the one that’s most reminiscent of Kelly’s Thankful days. This is a slower ballad, but not really a highlight or particularly memorable to me 2/5


All in all, Stronger is a fantastic album. Kelly’s still there, definitely, and her voice is as incredible as ever. I’d say her vocals are the best on this album, she definitely shows that she can sing! This album definitely deserves to be at Number 1.
