"Jacob?" I recognized the voice at once.
I spun around just to come human-face to human-face with Leah. She took a step back.
"How are you holding up?" she asked me. She was concerned about my choices. At least she understood. Sort of.
"OK. Although it would be a lot better if you could tell me what to do."
She shook her head. "I can't do that. I will never take anyone's will - or choice - away from them. But I will tell you this. If you can't choose - just listen to your heart and the answer will come."
"You sound like you know a lot about this," I replied.
"I had to listen to my heart once. To let Sam go. But nothing in there told me to do it willingly. So I made everyone miserable with my pain - especially Sam. I'm sorry. I must have been torture."
"I'm sorry too," I told her honestly. "I blamed you for how you handled the whole situation with Sam and Emily and you, but I never fully understood."
"Listen to your heart, Jake," she repeated.
I groaned as my eyes opened. A dream? Are you telling me I'm dreaming of Leah now? Great. Perfect. But it had helped - listening to my heart.
