Hello to all the hitters, hackers, grifters, thieves and masterminds out there. In March 2010 a momentous occasion occurred, the first ever Leverage convention was held in Portland, OR at the Governor Hotel which was the setting for the second season finale and now we have confirmation ConCon will be happening again. According to the Official Leverage Fan Site we all need to mark our calendars for a weekend of fun and excitement June 3-5.
What last year was like:
On Thursday evening there was a little event called What The Heck which was an opportunity have a drink and a snack and basically just to hang out and meet some other fans. Thursday night was also the night when people who volunteered to work during the convention were assigned their jobs.
Friday morning was when the excitement of registration began. For those of you who have never been to a convention I’ll tell you now this is one of the three most hectic parts of the weekend, the other two being autographs and photo ops. So since you’ll be standing in line for awhile I suggest you make the most of it by making friends with the people around you in line. If you’re shy don’t worry you all have something in common, you love Leverage. Last year Friday events were all fan lead since the actors were still filming that day though they did stop by during the TNT Cocktail party that night.
On Saturday the big events were the group discussion and autographs. Now like I said before the autograph line was hectic and long. This is when everyone wants to talk to the actors so remember to be patient when you’re in line and don’t monopolize the actors time when you finally get to meet them. For people who didn’t purchase any autographs there were still panels going on with Apllo followed by Agents Taggert and McSweeten. Saturday night was also the banquet have live music featuring Andy Lange who is well known in the Leverage world for his song Not Sure Yet which was Nate and Sophie’s theme song in season 2.
Sunday was the last day but was filled with exciting panels starting off with everyone’s favorite guest star Mark Sheppard followed by the girls Gina and Beth then the producers panel. After that began the photo ops which were a little confusing at first and no surprise took longer than expected. It was a lot of waiting in line then getting back in line to wait again but in my opinion totally worth it. For anyone not waiting for photos there was a guest star panel followed by a writers panel which went on for a couple of hours to give the guys Tim, Aldis and Christian time to finish up and get back for a guys panel. The last official part of ConCon was the closing ceremonies but for anyone sticking around Portland for a little longer Christian had a show at Danete’s that night which was a great way to finish off the evening.
If you were fortunate to be able to spend an extra day in Portland you could take the time to do a self guided tour around the city and see some places Leverage filmed on location.
This year things are a little different ticket wise but the information is now up on the website: link
Hopefully I covered what you need to know and if not feel free to ask. For those of you who came last year I hope to see you all again and for anyone who wasn’t able to attend last year’s convention this is your chance to make up for it.
