At some point, everyone hits a low-point in their career and life. It’s that time you think ‘can’t get any worse?’ – and then it does. Then, you wonder if there’s a way out and what you can do it make it happen.

Well, that’s the basic set-up for Jason Cook’s newly released comedy-drama feature film “The Creatress.”

It stars Lindy Booth as Eryn, a best-selling author caught between her wheeling-and-dealing agent (played by Fran Drescher) and a zealous critic (played by Peter Bogdanovich) out to take her down crafting a faux-memoir and a fake lover, Brad. Instead of crawling under a rock forever, Eryn decides to rewrite her future -- literally.

Stepping into the role of the make-believe romancer, Brad, is the very real actor Francis Lloyd Corby. Not sure where you’ve seen him before? Perhaps you first saw this Nashville native on FOX’s The Orville, Showtime’s The Affair, Hulu’s Chance, or FXX’s You’re the Worst. But, it also could have been in the notable indie films, Daddy Issues and Get You Back. Where ever it was doesn’t really matter, since everyone can watch him right now in “The Creatress.”

I recently caught up with Francis Lloyd Corby to find out more about his breakout role:

Tell us about your role in “The Creatress.”

FRANCIS LLOYD CORBY: I play Brad who is the fictional love interest of Eryn (Lindy Booth). The first half of the movie, I am a character created out of Theo (Peter Bagodnavich’s) mind. The second half, Eryn (Lindy Booth) takes over and creates her own version of my character. Therefore, this was one of the most complicated roles I’ve ever played. Basically it was playing a role in Inception and The Princess Bride all in one. “As you wiiiiiiiiish!”

How was it to work alongside Lindy Booth?

FLC: Lindy is an absolute powerhouse on set. The first day of filming she had around thirty costume changes! She was on top of it the whole time. Her hyper-focus to detail truly shows throughout this movie. Lindy definitely took me under her wing throughout the whole process and we’ve become close friends. How could we not since we are both redheads!

What would you consider your characters ‘best’ quality? And their ‘worst’?

FLC: Brad’s best quality is that he is so ready to fall in love and go on this totally unrealistic adventure with someone he barely knows- even to go so far as to dump his current girlfriend for her. He is open minded and lovable. His worst quality is how much he puts up with until he reaches his limit. Eryn really pushes him to the brink and it’s disheartening to watch how easily he is manipulated by her.

Any interesting stories from the set you can share with us?

FLC: On the first day of filming Lindy was on her last scene of the day as I was on my first scene, and so we shot all of her coverage and wrapped her. When we flipped the cameras around I needed someone to read with me so the director, Jason Cook, who is also a phenomenal actor, jumped right in. It was the scene of the morning after we hook up so he had to flirt with me and be lovey-dovey. He nailed it - no pun intended.

What’s the biggest lesson you learned from working on this project?

FLC: It is true that you can book from the table read. I was asked by the amazing casting director of the film, Paul Ruddy, to go to Jason’s house to read the script so that Jason could hear it out loud. I worked my ass off for two days building the character because I felt like it was a big opportunity to read for him. It ended up paying off when he asked me to audition for the role and then booked it!

And, now just for fun:

Who’s your favorite actor/actress?

FLC: I’ve been binge watching The Office recently because I heard it’s being taken off of Netflix next year. Steve Carrell is currently at the top. Such a versatile actor.

What role from the past do you wish you could have played?
FLC: I would have loved to play Matt Damon’s character in Saving Private Ryan.

Favorite movie or TV show from your childhood.
FLC: Hands down… Three Ninjas. Classic!

Tell us one thing that would surprise our readers to learn about you.
FLC: I brew my own beer for fun.
