Ahh One Direction, how you brighten up our day. Fresh from yesterday’s frenzy as the boys arrived at Radio 1 for the first play of their debut single What Makes You Beautiful, today they have won the accolade of Best Judges Houses Performance Ever, as voted by you lovely X Factor fanatics.
And what a moment it was. Who could forget the drama of whether Louis would actually make it to sing for Simon, after he got that oh so rock ‘n’ roll injury (well, he stood on a sea urchin).
But all floppy haired and gorgeous he arrived at the last moment and joined Harry, Niall, Liam and Zayn in full All Saints fashion glory ready to perform for Mr Cowell.
The nation waited with baited breath to see if the boys would ‘gel’ as a group, having previously auditioned as solo artists…
And of course they did! Hurrah! Relive the magic moment in the video player above where we see our favourite boys sing Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn.
Simon certainly wasn’t Torn (sorry) with the decision of whether to put them through to the live shows or not. That man knows a good thing when he sees it and fast forward a year and our five fine boys are on the verge of following in the footsteps of JLS and becoming a massively successful boyband.
Their new single was co-written by the man behind Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time hit, Rami Yacoub and fans were desperate to offer their online approval as they bombarded Twitter with their thoughts.
Kirsty Jayne Wysome told her followers: “Omg, I’m crying! It’s amazing!”
Another fan Chelsea added: “It sounds so cheesy, but there are honestly no words to explain how much I love WMYB [What Makes You Beautiful], and how proud i am of @onedirection.”
The single is available for pre-order just now and will be released for download on September 11 and in the shops on September 12.
Can One Direction do a Cher Lloyd and land a number one spot with their debut release? We thinks so. Aww, we love a happy ending, don’t you? Enjoy peeps!

Harry Styles will NOT be going solo anytime soon, a rep for One Direction has confirmed.
The rumour mill was forced into action after Kodaline star Steve Garrigan suggested during an interview with Digital Spy that a song they penned together "could be on his album if he does something".
However, a spokesperson for the You & I group has now dismissed speculation that Hazza will be flying the 1D nest, stating to E! News: "There are no plans for Harry to release any solo music at this time, any writing that he is doing is for potential One Direction songs.
"It's common knowledge that the boys write separately and bring to each other for the album."
The rumour is cleared up!
