John's wounds were cleaned, and he got stitches while he was in the hospital. Just as Caryn told him, he didn't feel a thing. The doctor told him, "You need to rest that arm as much as possible." He asked, "Does that mean I can't play guitar for a while?" The doctor said, "I'm afraid so, John." He sighed. The doctor said, "Don't worry. You'll get your stitches out in a week, but if you play guitar, you might pop the stitches out." As John left the hospital with Caryn and Stan, he said, "Caryn, I'm sorry the surprise didn't work out." She said, "It's okay, John. I'm just glad you're okay." He said, "I'm sure you're hungry, though." She said, "There's a burger joint just down the road." He said, "That sounds good." Stan said, "I'll drop you two off there, and I'll pick you up when you're done." Caryn said, "You can join us, Stan." He said, "Really?" John said, "Sure. It'll be a thanks for helping us out." Stan said, "All right." John, Caryn, and Stan ate at the burger joint. What was great was that Stan didn't feel like a third wheel. After they ate, Stan took John and Caryn to Caryn's house.
After a long time of getting bullied, I began to consider self-harm. I confessed this consideration to Zoe and Gavin. Zoe said, "Please don't hurt yourself. It's not the answer." Gavin said, "Zoe's right. If you hurt yourself, you'll have to deal with all those scars. Why do you want to hurt yourself anyway?" I began to cry. He hugged me and said, "It's all right. You can tell me." I talked about all the bullying I was facing. Zoe said, "Alyssa, those bullies are just losers. You have family and friends who love you." Gavin said, "That's right. You don't have to hurt yourself. Any time something is bothering you, tell us." I said, "Okay." Zoe said, "If you hurt yourself, you won't be the only one who hurts. We'll be hurt, too." I said, "I don't want to hurt you all." We shared a group hug. Over the years, I gained some friends and lost some, too, but I still had Zoe and Gavin. They will be my closest friends until the end of time.
