Princess Peach Toadstool (Japanese: ピーチ姫, Pīchi-Hime) is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Peach first appeared in Super Mario Bros.. She was created by Shigeru Miyamoto to be the damsel-in-distress throughout most Mario games. She resides in her castle along with many Toad retainers. Her kingdom is often attacked by the Koopa Clan, led by Bowser.

Peach has an affinity for the color pink, which accents her feminine personality and kind temperament. Peach's girlish nature and role as the damsel are often represented with her heart abilities and Princess emblems. Peach's initial design was said to represent her stubborn, yet cute, appearance.[1]

Since her debut, Peach has appeared in installments related to the Mario game series for over 20 years. Peach is occasionally a key supporting character in mainstream games, and almost always playable in spinoff installments. Her most prominent appearance to date is as the heroine of Super Princess Peach.

Peach is portrayed as Mario's love interest and the frequent damsel-in-distress. She is also good friends with Luigi, Toad, and especially Princess Daisy

Mario Kart series
Screenshot of Peach in the opening for Mario Kart Wii.

Peach has always been a playable participant in the Mario Kart series. In Super Mario Kart, when controlled by the CPU, Peach will sometimes use mushrooms against the other drivers which will shrink them. In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Peach is teamed up with Daisy, and their special item is the Heart. Peach's personal kart in Double Dash!! is the Heart Coach, which is available by default. In Mario Kart DS, her karts are the Royale and the Light Tripper. In Mission Mode, she has to race against King Boo. She is advanced...

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Daisy participating in the High Jump event. (Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games)

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Wii and DS, Daisy appears as, for the first time, a Speed character. Being well balanced for many event types, Daisy is a good choice for a variety of play. Although the game does not offer a selection of events most complementary to special techniques, there are events that use them. In her fencing special, Daisy's flower power propels her, allowing her to jab rapidly. In her table tennis special, Daisy spins with flower...

Alternate Outfits
Main Athletic Wear
Daisy wearing her main "primary sports outfit".

In most of the recent Mario sports installments for the Gamecube, Wii, and DS systems, Daisy's "primary sports outfit" includes orange shorts, a yellow sleeveless shirt, and the usual flower accessories. The shorts include two yellow hoops at the bottom, and two yellow curved lines running from the side seams to the front waist. Also included are a pair of orange and yellow athletic shoes with two lace straps on each. Unless appearing in a Mario Party or Mario Kart game, Daisy will be depicted in this instead...

Princess Daisy is the princess of Sarasaland, who first appeared in the game Super Mario Land. She was created by Gunpei Yokoi, Shigeru Miyamoto's mentor. Although Daisy is the ruler of Sarasaland, her current place of residence is in the Mushroom Kingdom.[1]

Daisy is known to be a tomboy, a fact first stated in her debut appearance.[2] Daisy is represented by colors like yellow, orange and green. She has an affinity for flowers; her attire, special abilities, personal emblems and general representations are often flowers.

Years after her initial appearance, Daisy started appearing in more and...

PEACH..... Super Mario Bros. marked Peach's debut appearance. Bowser had invaded the Mushroom Kingdom, and transformed its inhabitants into blocks and other objects. However, as foretold that the Mushroom King's daughter would be able to lift the spell, he kidnapped Princess Peach (then known as "Princess Toadstool").

Mario and Luigi recognized the threat and went to rescue her. After completing all seven castles and defeating the real Bowser, the brothers finally found the princess and rescued her. In reward, Toadstool gave Mario a kiss on the cheek and thanked him. In Super Mario Bros.: The...

Super Mario Land
Daisy's debut appearance. (Super Mario Land)

During the events of Super Mario Land, Sarasaland, a neighboring desert nation friendly to the Mushroom Kingdom, is invaded by the space invader Tatanga. He hypnotizes her subjects in the country, turning them into his army, and he kidnaps their leader, Daisy. Mario attempts to rescue the princess and liberate Sarasaland. Mario has to travel through each of the four kingdoms of Sarasaland, fighting new enemies at the end of each. Every time he defeats a level's Boss, what appears to be Daisy thanks the hero. However, it turns out...

NES Open Tournament Golf

When the golf installments overall started with NES Open Tournament Golf, Peach was mainly a supporting participant (by being Mario's caddy).

Mario Golf (Nintendo 64)

When the dedicated Mario Golf installments (as developed by Camelot) started years after NES Open Tournament Golf, Peach started to get more involved in the gameplay itself starting with the Nintendo 64 version. Statistics wise, she has one of the lightest hits, best control and hits the ball straight despite lacking distance. Additionally, her spin rivals...

Mario

Main article: Mario

Daisy was rescued by Mario from the clutches of Tatanga in Super Mario Land, and she rewarded him with a kiss upon her rescue. Mario has never explicitly expressed an interest in her, nor has Daisy to him. In Mario Party 5, Mario and Daisy are given the team name "Nice Couple" when paired together, while they do not share player chemistry at all in Mario Superstar Baseball and in Mario Super Sluggers. Regardless, Daisy and Mario have been officially stated to be good friends on numerous occasions.

Super Mario Sunshine
Peach and Mario on vacation, at Sirena Beach.

In Super Mario Sunshine, Mario, Peach, and Toadsworth went to Isle Delfino on Peach's private plane for a vacation. However, Shadow Mario had filled the island with graffiti to frame Mario. The Piantas then sentenced him to clean the entire island with FLUDD. Peach objected to the accusations by providing an alibi in Mario's trial, but this evidence was overruled by the Pianta Judge for no given reason.

Peach then went to Delfino Plaza, as it currently was not possible to reach the hotel. There, Shadow Mario grabbed her and ran...
