A pop song blared through large speakers, loud enough to make the booze in your cup ripple. The body heat in the room was bordering stifling and you had lost your friend a while ago.

Sighing through your nose you took a large drink of the liquid in your hand. It burned as it went down your throat but the tingle it sent through you compensated for it.

“Hey, babe” A crisp voice drawled. Turning yourself around you were confronted by a guy about a few inches taller then you but a had a rather stocky build and gelled back hair.

“Oh! Hey Tyler, can I… Uh, help you?” You tilted your head to the side a bit and he shrugged in a nonchalant manner,

“Question is can I help you?” You did your best not to cringe at those sleazy words. He gave you a grin and you smiled back a bit uncomfortable. You gazed into your cup eager to escape his attempts to flirt with you

He had seen her earlier. Her (H/c) caught the light and when she turned her (e/c) eyes shone with a hidden light. He couldn’t get her out of her head. How she smiled. Just the way her lips curved up to reveal a set pearly whites

(Y/n) sat beside the lanky boy in Chemistry and the shy smiles she’d give him when he nodded to him drove him crazy. His mind hand wandered and Bill punched his shoulder with surprising strength

“Ow, what the heck man.” He scowled rubbing the sure to bruise are

“Dude you’ve been spaced out for like ten minutes.” He made a rough imitation of what a stoner would look like after one too many bowls.

“Nah man I’m pretty sure he was drooling over that chick from Chem.” His Bandmate Ben joked.

“Was not…” He muttered and a feeling crept up on him. It rose the hairs on the back of his neck. Something was wrong…

“Listen to Ty. I-I’d really rather you didn’t” The emphasis you put on the word “really” had him searching through the crowd of bodies.

“Yo, dude what’s up-” Ben stopped short as Rodrick pushed past someone vanishing into the crowd “What the heck…?” He looked to the others but all they could offer was shrugs at the drummer’s sudden desertion.

Your back was to the wall and your free hand was on Tyler’s chest in a sad attempt at keeping him from entering your personal bubble any further.
His breath reeked of Soda and he seemed determined a hand slipping to your waist. You stiffened when and arm set itself to rest on your shoulder.

“Hey, babe.” You looked over to see… Rodrick Heffley!? You leaned towards his surprisingly solid chest as Tyler’s hand was retracted.

“Hey, baby.” You replied playing along. Tyler traded a look with Rodrick,

"Didn’t know you had a girl, Heffley.“ There was an odd tone to his voice and Rodrick rubbed your shoulder gently.

"Yeah, a real catch.” He hums. Tyler, losing interest meandered off.

"Thanks, Heffley appreciate it…“ You murmured a bit shyly. Holy shoot! Rodrick Heffley just saved your skin AND is talking to you!

"No problem I mean what else was I sapotsa-” The buzzing of your phone cut him off. Apologizing you hastily answered it,

"Casey!? Where are you?!“ You hissed only to hear a set of giggles,

"Sorry (Y/n) change on plans.”

"Change of plans you’re my sober driver!“ You sighed heavily receiving only a burst of drunken laughter an apology and the beep of a disconnected line.

"Uh… Lost your drive?” Rodrick inquired, “I’ve got a van.” Chewing your lower lip.

"Yeah… You really wouldn’t mind driving me?“ He shook his head.

"It’s no biggie.” He grabbed your hand and pulled you through the crowd. You felt your face flush as you neared the door. Once outside he led you to a white van with the words “Loded Diper” written on the front.

You climbed in the passenger seat and he pulled out the driveway and onto the road. You drove slowly through the quiet street,

"Hey, Heffley…“

"It’s Rodrick but yeah?” He hummed eyes on the road.

“Thanks.” He looked at you then back at the road.

“For?”

“For? For saving me back there?” You paused, “You’re my hero… Rodrick”

The lanky brown haired boy felt his chest swell with pride and his cheeks take a light pink color.

“Another opportunity to call you my girl isn’t something I’d pass up” He confessed making you blush lightly.

“T-Then why not call me your girl?” You chewed your lower lip eyes flitting over to him to catch a large smile,

“I’ll take you up on that.”
