I walked swiftly, trying to miss the storm, but I failed. No- Make that, I failed miserably. The wind grew stronger by the minute, making it harder for me to walk by each passing step. I tried rubbing my arms, trying to make them warmer, but I failed at that too. Rain and wind do not cooperate.
My teeth chattered and I was totally soaked and freezing when I finally reached the house. I opened the door and closed it as quietly as I could.
I looked around, trying to see if my 'father' was home. It didn't seem like he was. There was no new, fresh blood or scratch marks on the floor or walls. So- I guess he's not home. Plus, I didn't smell anything gross in the house. I shrug, take my shirt off and head up stairs to my room up in the attic.
I take off my pants, my bra and grab a blanket and try to dry myself off. I grab some new clothes and open up a window, the cold wind welcoming me once more. "Eugh, this weather is gross...I'm gonna close my window..." I mumble, as I shut it and pull the curtains.
I sigh, and turn on a lamp, grabbing a piece of paper and a pencil. I walked towards my bed, and quickly grab Wolfy from inside my closet and run back to my bed.
I plop down and draw a picture of a cake and a few balloons. "Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dearest Alice, happy birthday to me..." I mumble, and grab Wolfy. I really needed someone to talk to.
I whispered in his fur about what had happened. The boy, our argument. I smiled, it felt good to get troubling things off of my mind.
I closed my eyes, and tried to day dream, but something scared me out of my mind.
I hear a loud BOOM! and a loud, and low moaning. What was that?! Well- The boom was certainly thunder, but what was the low moaning?
My mind raced with possibilities at what the noise could be and of course, it imagined the worse. The only sane thing that kept popping back into my head was: "Go and turn on the radio! Now!"
I obeyed, and ran towards my closet where my radio was buried. I grabbed it, and took it out. I flipped it on and waited. There was a low CREEK! as the station was adjusted and soon a voice clicked on.
"Good afternoon, it is my duty to tell you all that a tornado warning, has been issued by the
'National Weather Service' in Wilmington. This storm is said to have golf ball sized hail, winds up to 75-80 miles per hour, and rotation has been spotted near Spinners. Please go to the center part of your house. Get away from all windows and try best as possible to be safe. Thank you." I then click it off and run towards my window.
I could see lightning, hear thunder and see- Crap. A cloud, it was low and spinning. I gasped, and ran as fast as I could, grabbing Wolfy and running down the stairs. I frantically looked for mom but couldn't find her. I almost broke down, but quickly ran down into our basement bathroom. I grabbed a blanket, jumped into the bathtub and covered myself. Now, all there was to do was wait.
The silence was enough to drive me mad, as I waited for the impact of the tornado. I could hear, something...Like a freight train, but times 100. It grew louder by each second, and then....
BANG! BOOM! CRASH! SCREECH! MOAN! SCREAM!
Horrible noises and powerful winds were literally tearing the house apart. The wind was screeching and I was screaming my voice hoarse. I was literally holding onto the tub for dear life, trying not to fly off. I could hear the roof wearing away and loud BANG! signaled that it had gave way.
I screamed as it fell upon me, and I could see no more...
Dazed, my sight blurry I tried to move, but couldn't. As my sight became more clear, I could see nothing my rubble. My left leg and right arm were in excruciating pain, and I could feel warm liquid running down the right side of my face.
I tried opening my mouth, but it felt as though it were made of sandpaper. My lips were dry, and throat made of sandpaper. I screamed but it died out soon. I had to get out of here. I screamed once more and it lasted longer, but it made my throat feel as though it were being cut by blades.
I screamed once more, louder and lasted longer and then, I heard a noise. I didn't stop screaming and started shouting, "HELP! PLEASE HELP ME!" I could hear someone, or, people, talking, and I could see rubble being moved. "Please, continue to talk so we can know where you are!" Someone shouted.
"Please! I'm in here! I-I think my arm and leg are broken!" I shout. "That's good! Keep doing that and we're getting you out!" The same person shouts. I could see more and more rubble being moved and tears of happiness were streaming down my face.
I was going to get out! But then, the people stopped. I started panciking, hearing the people mumbling to themselves. "Sorry, but you're stuck in there good and we don't have anyone small enough to-" "I'll do it" A voice I hadn't heard before had spoken up. "Really? Well-Good luck! Someone is going to go in after you just listen to him and we'll all get you out!" I heave a sigh of relief, as I shout, "Alright!".
I could hear rubble being moved, curses and finally, someone poked through. I couldn't really see what he looked liked, but I could see that he had long hair, and an overly large coat.
"Hello, you alright? Wait- Stupid question, of course you're not alright...Oh I'm sorry..." He mumbles nervously and in all the hell, I laugh. I could see the silhouette of a smile.
"Alright, now, I need you to give me your good arm so I can try to get you out." I nod, and pry my right arm free from the rubble. He grab it, and gives some sort of signal, and people begin pulling on my arm, as well as the boy.
Soon, I came out, but it was agonizingly painful. People rushed over and picked me up, placing me on what was left over of my couch. They cleaned up the blood and tried their best to bandage me up. I got up and looked around at to what was my home.
The whole thing was gone, including the foundation. Nothing was left except a few things from the basement. I suddenly remembered Wolfy and ran over and dug into the rubble. I couldn't find him! I bit my lip and tried not to cry. If both my parents were dead, he would have been the only one tow comfort me.
I heard someone clear their throat and I whip around. It was the boy, or, at least I think it was. He had long hair, black actually and the same voice. I smiled, and got up, dusting off my bloodied hands. He smiled nervously, and seemed to be hiding something behind his back.
"Hi, I want to thank you for earlier, if not for you...I'd still be in there, dying probably." He smiled softly. "I-I have something for you..." He mumbles and reveals what he was hiding behind his back. I couldn't believe my eyes! It was Wolfy!
I couldn't hold in my happiness: I ran over and hugged the boy I had just said a sentence to. I squeezed him and tears ran down my face. I could hear his heartbeat go faster, and I looked up to see his face go red. I smile, as he hands me Wolfy.
"Thank you, again! I-I don't know what I would do without him!" I say, squeezing Wolfy. He smiles kindly. "Your welcome, well, I best be going to, those people. See if anyone else needs help..." He turns to leave, but I of course, stop him. "Wait!" He turns back around. "Yes?" I thought rapidly. "What's your name and why don't you stay with me?!" The look on his face was just priceless and her soon slurred out his name. "S-Severus. My name is Severus." I smile. "Cute name! I'm Alice!" He blushes slightly and smiles. "You have a very lovely name, Alice." I blush slightly then, and a scream of joy pierces the awkward moment.
I turn to see- my mom!?! She was screaming histerically and running towards me. I jumped for joy and ran towards her as she embraced me in a bone crushing hug. "Oh my baby! I'm so glad you're alright!" I smile, but felt kind of embarrassed. She kisses me on the top of the head. "Mom, I would like you to meet Severus. He's the one who saved me from the rubble." My mom turns towards Severus and hugs him too. "You saved my baby?!" She asks looking into his eyes. He nods quickly as my mom hugs him tightly too and kisses his head.
"You're the kindest boy I have ever met!" She said squeezing him once more. "T-Thank you!" Severus replied sheepishly. I laugh as the fire department and police arrive. My mom brings Severus over next to me. And for once, in all the darkness and hell that has happened, the moment was almost peaceful...Almost, happy...
