Sherlock woke to find that Joan wasn't next to him. He got up and went her room, He found her lying in her bed. He crawled in next to her and just started at her. He couldn't help but think about what it would do to her if she found out what he did. He leaned in and kissed her forehead gently. Joan stirred then woke to find him smiling at her.
'Hey.'
'Hey. I didn't hear you come in last night.'
'I did get in till 11. My parents can talk.' She sat up and rubbed her eyes. 'And i was thinking...'
'What?.'
'How about we tell them about us together?.' Sherlock thought for a moment then nodded.
'We could.'
'Thank you.' She lent down and kissed him. 'I'm going to make coffee, you won't some?.'
'Please.' She got up and went downstairs to the kitchen. She put the kettle on and went to the front door to check the mail and found an envelope addressed to Sherlock.
'Sherlock!.' After a moment, he came downstairs. 'This for you.' She handed him the envelope and he froze. 'You OK?.'
'Yeah...I'm fine.' He went back upstairs to his room and sat down on the bed. He carefully opened it and pulled out a note.
Tell her or I will.
He looked inside and found another picture of him and Irene, but this one was from a long time ago. This one was from when they first met.They were slow dancing and he had placed his forehead against hers. Sherlock took out his phone and called Gregson.
'Sherlock, what can i do for you?.'
'I need to talk to you.'
'Same place?.'
'I'll see you in five.'
When he arrived, he handed Gregson the envelope.
'I know whose been sending these.' Gregson opened it and pulled out the note and picture.
'The woman?.'
'Defiantly.' Gregson looked at the picture.
'You two seem... Cozy. When was this?.'
'A few years ago. One of my... associates took this picture without me knowing.'
'So why would she be sending you this?.' Sherlock shrugged. 'Alright we'll look into it. You also mentioned something about a phone.?'
'I left that a home. I'll bring it next time. Have you got the DNA back from the hair sample?.'
'We did but it didn't match anyone in our database.' Sherlock chuckled. 'What?.'
'Well, it wouldn't anyway. The woman you are looking for is suppose to be dead. Her name is...' Suddenly gun shots went off and smashed through the windows. Gregson grabbed his radio.
'What was that!?.' Sherlock ran onto the street to have a quick look but whoever it was seems to have ran. 'Holmes, your bleeding.' Sherlock looked down his arm and saw a bit of glass sticking out of it.
'That's unfortunate.'
