GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Sia recently visited The Recording Academy\'s headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., to perform a rare live set featuring songs from her latest album,
1000 Forms Of Fear, including "Big Girls Cry" and the Top 10 hit "Chandelier."
Born Sia Kate Isobelle Furler in Adelaide, Australia, Sia started her career performing on the Adelaide jazz circuit in the \'90s as a guest vocalist for Crisp. After relocating to London, she landed gigs as a guest vocalist for GRAMMY winners Jamiroquai and electronic duo Zero 7. In 2002 Sia released her major label debut, Healing Is Difficult, which featured the Top 10 UK Singles hit "Taken For Granted." Colour The Small One was released in 2004 and garnered Sia international acclaim when "
Breathe Me" was featured in the series finale of HBO\'s "Six Feet Under," which she parlayed into a subsequent U.S. tour. Sia\'s third album, 2008\'s Some People Have Real Problems, peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard 200.
In 2010 Sia released We Are Born, which cracked the Top 40, and co-wrote three tracks for GRAMMY winner Christina Aguilera\'s hit album Bionic, including "You Lost Me." Sia subsequently went on a brief hiatus from recording and focused her efforts on songwriting, co-penning songs for the likes of GRAMMY winners Madonna, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, and Rihanna, for whom she co-wrote the 2012 No. 1 hit "Diamonds." Sia was also featured on Flo Rida\'s Top 5 hit "Wild Ones," which earned her a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for 2012.
Released in July, 1000 Forms Of Fear peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and features collaborations with GRAMMY-nominated producers Diplo and Greg Kurstin and the Strokes\' guitarist Nick Valensi, among others. The album features 12 tracks, including "Big Girls Cry," "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart," the latter of which is also featured on the soundtrack for the 2013 film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
